2004年現在にはじめてこの作品を聴いたが、「本当にこれが1970年代の音楽なのか？」という、よく名盤に使われるセリフが率直な僕の感想です。
これまでプログレに拒否反応を示していたので、避けて通ってきたがこの作品はプログレなんて言葉をはるかに凌駕した凄まじいものです。
現在のテクノ、エレクトロニカ、音響、ポストロック系の音楽の原点がここに詰まってます。

大傑作だ！
とにかく一曲目の表題作。パンクもニューウェーヴもオルタナもなかった1973年にこんな音を作っていいのか？ゆるんゆるんのオフビートにのって、全裸のダモが波間をフラフラと漂ってくる。殺される！

前作エーゲ・バミヤージのささやかな商業的成功の後、南の島でちょっとしたバカンスを楽しんだ影響が顕れた音だといわれるが、確かにこれまでの血で血を洗う緊迫感から、肩の力がイイ感じに抜けて、よけい迫力を増している。全盛期の落合のニヤニヤ笑いのような。

発表当時は「プログレ」に分類され、ムーディーブルースやイエスの好きな大多数のプログレファンからは当然無視されたが、誰が真の意味でプログレッシヴだったかは言うまでもなく歴史が証明している。

一部では、CANの最高傑作と言われる。僕にはCANの最高傑作はどれか？といわれても非常に困る。とにかく、このバンドは個性的で、どのアルバムも非常に個性が強く、気分によって最高傑作が変わってしまう（非常に高いレベルの作品ばかり）。

　このアルバムは彼らの５枚目に当たるが、リズムが全面に出ていたこれまでの雰囲気とは少し異なり、浮遊感が漂う、スタジオアルバムとしての完成度を高めた様な作品になっている。
　CANを始めて聞くにはちょっと取っつきにくいかもしれませんが、”一つの”彼らの完成された美学であることは間違いありません。

　知り合いのドイツ人が僕に言ってきました。CANってなんて発音するの？これは本当の話です。もちろんカンです。
