　う~ん…。このレコードはクリームのライブ盤です。演奏はものすごいです。ツエッペリン以降のアンサンブル重視の演奏ではなく、３人がそれぞれまったく引かずに演奏しています（こんな演奏を毎日してたら、そりゃ２年で解散してしまうのも無理ない）。　

　ただ、曲がよくない、というよりも目玉曲がないんですね~。基本的に地味な曲ばかりですので、ここからクリームを聞いてこうとするのはお勧めできないと私は思います。
　彼らのライブなら、『素晴らしき世界』か、『ライブクリーム２』から手をつけたほうがいいでしょう。

７０年発表のライヴ盤。グループ解散後の発表のためオリジナル作品とは呼べないかもしれないが、このグループの場合、スタジオ作品よりもライヴ盤の方がおもしろいし、グループの本質が分かりやすいと思う。スタジオ作を聞く限りだと彼らがハード・ロックのグループだとは正直なところ思えないが、荒々しいライヴの演奏を聞けばすぐに納得できると思う。悪い表現を使えばダラダラと長いインプロを延々と演奏しているライヴ盤だが、この喧嘩常套といった風情のインプロこそクリームの本質だと思う。同時にギター・ソロ、ベース・ソロ、ドラム・ソロをやっているようなもので、様式美を追求する後年のハード・ロックとは全く異なったエネルギーの放出そのものの演奏である。もちろんこの表現が、このライヴ盤の全てを表しているわけではないが、ロックが一番熱かったころの一番熱い演奏がたっぷりと聞くことが出来ると思う。ちなみにライヴ盤の第二弾も出ているが、そちらはインプロ主体ではないライヴ盤になっているので好みで選択してみても良いと思う。
ちなみに３．のみスタジオ録音だが、２ｎｄ収録の「ストレンジ・ブルー」のバック・トラックにクラプトンがヴォーカルを乗せたものである。

クリームの神髄はライヴにあり、ということで本作品もお薦めの1枚であることには違いはないのですが、いわゆる有名曲は収録されていません。それゆえこれからクリームを聴いてみようと考えている方には手を出し辛いアルバムだとは思います。

内容的には4曲のライヴとスタジオ録音曲が1曲収録されています。ライヴのうち2曲は10分オーバーで、アドリブの応酬がたっぷりと楽しめます。

確かにクリームのアルバムの中で真っ先に聴くようなアルバムでないことは事実でしょう。しかしクリームのライヴアルバムに駄作が存在しないこともまた事実なのです！後回しでもいいから、是非聴いてみてもらいたいと思います。
