1枚ものからBOX、果てはDVDまでベスト盤も各種出揃ったジャーニー。お勧めするとしたら絶頂期のライブを記録したこの一枚しかない。当時、ボストン、カンサス、スティクス（いずれも私は愛聴していた）らと共に「産業ロック」とこき下ろした某音楽評論家の文章を私はそれ以来全く信用しないことにしている。武道館北側（ドラムセットの真後ろ！そんなところにまで席を用意しなければならないほどだったのだ）スタンドから見たジャーニー、私の目はすっかりスティーブ・スミスのトリコとなってしまった。あのときの超絶ドラムがまさにそのままこのＣＤには記録されているのだ。　その後脱退してしまったスティーブ・ペリーだがこのライブアルバムを聴けばロック史上に名を残すべきボーカリストであることに異論を持つ人は少ないのではないだろうか。最高にカッコいい「産業ロック」バンドの最高のライブパフォーマンス。

このCDを聴くと武道館の感動がよみがえる。ジャーニーって本当にエンターティナーかつプロフェッショナルな集団だよね。本当にこのCDで聴けるそのままの演奏がライヴで聴けたんだよ!おそらくこの音源も差し替えはしてないんじゃないかな。素晴らしい!!リアルタイムでジャーニーに出会えたことを神に感謝します。でも、売ることしか頭にない産業ロックとこきおろす輩がいまだにいることには閉口します。とんでもない話だよ! 素晴らしい音楽だから多くのファンに支持されるのです。みんなもそう思うでしょ?ジャーニー、エイジア、カンサス、スティクス、ボストン、REOスピードワゴン、フォリナー、みーんな俺の大好きな素晴らしい音楽を聴かせてくれるバンド達だ。でもジャーニーの音楽が好きになれないなら、それはそれでいいと思うけど、音楽性まで否定するのはどうかと思いますよ。まっ、そういう連中は相手にしないで、このライヴCDを心行くまで楽しもうよ!きっとジャーニーのことがもっと好きになりますよ!

1998年に突如発売されたJourneyのライブ・アルバムです。録音は1981年のEscape Tourから1983年のFrontiers Tourまでのワールド・ツアーからのハイライトで、２．は1983年5月6日の日本武道館からの収録です（曲の最後でSteve Perryが「どうもありがとう！とうきょう~っ！！」って絶叫しています）。メンバーはSteve Perry(vo),Neal Schon(g,vo),Jonathan Cain(key,g,vo),Ross Valory(b,vo),Steve Smith(ds)の全盛期のメンバーです。個人的にはGregg Rolie(key,vo),Aynsley Dunbar(ds)が在籍していた頃も好きなのですが、一般的にはこの時期のライブがベストだと思います。収録曲も"Greatest Hits Live"のタイトルに偽りのないベストの選曲で、Journeyのファンだった方は勿論、ファンではなかった方にもお勧めしたい１枚です。この時期のライブはＭＴＶでも結構放送されていたので、ＤＶＤでも是非発売して欲しいと思います。以上
