このアルバムを聴く前も、聴いた後も私はリッチー信者です。しかし"Come Taste the Band"を聴くときはトミー信者になります。何故？って、トミーにはリッチーにはないセンスとグルーヴがあります。リッチーを聴くときには何か緊張して聴きます。トミーを聴くときは何故かリラックスして聴けます。これって不思議。マジックか？しかし、トミーって素晴らしいテクニックとセンスの持ち主です、まったく信じられん程。
トミーを聴いている間、リッチーは何処かへ行ってしまう。その位感服ですわ。
世界中のパープル・ファンにファンキー・パープルを知らしめた逸品。

新生ディーパープル！！トミーボーリン？？
当時レコードに針を落とす時の期待感と妙な不安感をいまだに忘れられないとても記憶に残るアルバムです。
１曲目を聴いた瞬間「まさしく第３期の延長だな」と、ひと安心したのも束の間！「あれ！どうしたの？これは何だ？ここは、どこ？あなたは誰？・・・」

神様リッチ-時代の面影が頭の中で崩れてさって行くのを感じてしまいました

しかしこれはトミーボーリンによって古き時代のブリティッシュハードロックから脱皮したアメリカンナイズされた新生パープルの再出発だったのでは、ないでしょうか？以後自分としては第４期ディープパープルとしてのすばらしいアルバムと感じ今でも愛聴盤として、とても気に入っています！！

　その昔一緒にバンドをやってた仲間はこぞってこの作品を「あんなのはゴミだ」といってばっさり切り捨てていました。でも私は「なんで？曲も演奏も最高なのに・・。確かにライヴはひどいけどこのアルバムは良いと思う」等と真っ向から対立したことがありました。

　このアルバムは狂信的なリッチー信者から見れば確かに「ゴミ」といわれても仕方がないかもしれません。リッチーのクラシカルで独特なメロディのギターがなく、アメリカナイズされた（とはいっても所詮はブリティッシュバンドですから知れてますが・・）雰囲気は「ライヴインジャパン」や「ＢＵＲＮ」でのリッチーに心酔しきっている人には許されないことなのでしょう。
　ですからリッチーをよく知らなかったり、それほど思い入れの強くない人にはお薦め。また初期のホワイトスネイクやグレンヒューズが好きな人も必聴でしょう。（そういう人は当然聴いているとは思いますが・・・）。

　デイヴィッドカヴァデールのソウルフルなヴォーカルは深みがあって心地よく、グレンのベースも「Ｍａｄｅ　Ｉｎ　Ｅｕｒｏｐｅ」程でかくはありませんが、ゴリゴリとかっこいいサウンドで弾きまくっています。ヴォーカルも最高！。イアンペイスのドラムもグルーヴィで、さらにあの独特のスピード感もこの頃はまだ健在です！。

　７０'ｓロック、特にハードロックに興味のある人は周囲の雑音等気にせず聴いてみると良いと思います。最高の楽曲と素晴らしい歌や演奏が詰まった７０'ｓロックの名盤だと思いますので・・。
