「ダンス・ミュージックの本命か？ロックンロールの大穴か？ブレイクビーツ・ロックンローラー、ケミカル兄弟が世紀末に迎えた人類にブチかます、待っててましたの2ndアルバム。」
このキャッチコピーから伺えるように、”セッティング・サン”、”ブロック・ロッキン・ビーツ ”を引っ提げてのこのアルバムは、高い評価を得ました。　特にオアシスのノエルとの共演 "setting sun"はチャート ナンバー１シングルになり、当時のラジオDJクリス・エヴァンスが番組途中で曲のオンエアーを中断するほど。他のアーティストに嫉妬されるのは、確実にその地位を固めていった証でもあるのでしょう。
この作品に限らず、ケミカルのアルバムは１枚として「流れ」が見事です。終始アッパーではなく、まずは文字道理、「１」から順に始まり、そしてクライマックスを迎えると、メロディアスなナンバーを織り交ぜ、聴く者を余韻に浸らせ、収束に向かっていきます。
そのためにも"block rockin' beats"、そして"where do i begin" は外せないトラックですね。

エドシモンズさんとトムローランズさんのユニットでありますこのバンドはかなりパンキッシュなエレクトロニカを聞かせてくれます。

バンドの名前が元ダストブラザースでアメリカにも同じ名前のＤＪチームがおりまして訴えられたそうです。アメリカのほうのやつはヴィンスニールなんかをプロデュースしているやつらです。御注意ください。

分かりやすく言えばプロデジーなんかがこういう感じですね。彼等のリミックスもケミカルはが担当してますがね。

なんだかパブリックエナミーの過激さとテクノの重量級のダンスグルーヴ＝（ソリッドなボトム）をブレンドしたみたいです。

彼がストーンズからのプロデュースの要請を断ったエピソードは、かなり興味深く、名声なんぞよりも刺激的なサウンドをえんそうしてりゃいいんだっつう姿勢が好きであります。ユーモア感覚と過激なリミックスも音楽的な才能の一部であると思います。邪悪なテクノの典型ですね。

２００５年の東京ベイNKホールでのライブでは
新曲のGalvanizeが大いに盛り上がっていました。

ライブはアルバム「サレンダー」に収録されている
Hey boy hey girlでスタートしていましたが、
２人が登場して会場でかかっていたのは
ビートルズのアルバム「リボルバー」に収録されている
Tomorrow never knowsのケミカルブラザーズバージョンでした。
アルバム「ディグ・ユア・オウン・ホール」
収録のSetting sun感じはTomorrow never knowsを
現代に復活させた名曲だと思います。
