   DJシャドウことジョシュ・デイヴィスは、ヒップホップの自己満足げなサウンドに、内省的な視点を新たに持ちこんだことで信頼されているはずだ。本作は、都会的な不安定かつわいせつなビートを凝縮し、ヒップホップの枠を越えたごった煮的なサンプリングと音のモンタージュで包みこんでいる。ロック、ソウル、ファンク、アンビエント、ジャズの基本的要素をミックスし、グレードアップさせたこの現代的な融合音楽は、耳利きなリスナーでなくても注目せずにはいられないものだ。大半のトラックは、中古レコードの山から見つけた掘り出し物のサンプルを何層にも重ねて編集されているが、そのクオリティーは単なる寄せ集めにとどまらない。そして、アルバム全体を暗いメロディーがつらぬきながらも、同時にトンネルの出口をも見すえている。ナレーションは数えきれないほどの音源からサンプリングされ、リスナーを巻きこみ解答を待たせている。メッセージが盗み聞きした会話のように断片的なために、本作からははっきりとした結論は伝わってこないが、心とからだと魂をくり返し請い求めているのは確かだ。（Lucas Hilbert, Amazon.com）

今までの音楽人生の中で、これほど衝撃的なアルバムはなかった。ジャンル的にはヒップホップに分類される(ちなみにインストです。)が、音としてはロックのビートそのまんまの曲もあり(＃２)、是非とも聞いてから判断してほしい。ターンテーブル使いのレッド・ツェッペリンと評されたことから想像できるのでは(但し、ロバート・プラント無しの。Yeah!)。　元ナンバーガール向井氏は、部屋でかけてて隣の住人に激怒され、イギリスのどっかの雑誌には、オールタイム・ベスト１にも選ばれた傑作だ。まぁ、別に輸入盤買ってもいいんだけど(そこでは多くのべた褒めレビューが君を待つ！)、ゴミばっかりが溢れかえる当世日本の音楽事情を考えれば、この一枚が廃盤なのは(抗議の意味も込めて)犯罪的と言えるのでは。

完璧に名盤。

ヒップホップのバックトラックに繊細なメロディラインがのったインスト集。

ゲストヴォーカルがのっていないからこそ、逆に静寂が映えて、とても美しい。

シャドウの中で一番好きなアルバムですね。
特に好きな曲がBUILDING~ですね。始まりかたが兎に角カッコいい。ジャンル関係なくどんな人にでも受け入れられるとも思います。車のBGMにもピッタリ。一人で聴くのもいいですね〜。いい感じにシャドウの世界に浸れます。
シャドウの世界を味わいたい人は是非!
