間違いなくDokkenのファンに一番"気に入られていない"１枚。当時大流行だったグランジに影響され、Don Dokkenは髪をばっさりと切り、何処ぞのお坊ちゃま風でもあった。アコースティック調ののらりくらりとした暗めの曲も多く、嫌われる理由は十二分に揃っている。しかし、だ。この薄暗くジメジメとした曲調は、根暗で陰気な(＾с＾)Don Dokkenの性格そのまま、有る意味高音を苦しそうに歌うよりは、氏の本来持ち合わせている(であろう)スタイルに合っているのではないか？、とさえ思えるのだ。勿論、『Tooth & Nail』、『Under Lock & Key』、Don Dokken時代の『Up From The Ashes』と、他にも聴くべき音源は有るが、ちょっと気分が沈み掛けている時、敢えてどっぷりと陰気に時間を過ごすにはうってつけの隠れ裏名盤である。

以前のメロディアスHMを期待している人には不評のグランジっぽいアルバム。
グランジ好きならば気に入るかも。ただ、サウンドガーデン、アリスインチェインズのようなアグレッシブさはない、HMバンドがグランジやりました的なアルバム。
曲は良くも悪くもないが、聴きどころのない作品。

従来のドッケンのサウンドを期待する向きにはこれは駄作かもしれない。だが初めてこれを聞く人物にはこれは果たしてどう響くのか？？私自身はジョージリンチの＝リンチモブとジョージリンチのソロアルバムが好きでこれを聞いたくちなんで、全盛期の彼等は熱心に聞いてなかった。なもんで、この作品は、チャレンジ＝それもかなりのリスクをしょいこんだやつなわけだ。歌詞内容も直接的でダークな感じのがほとんどである。あまったるいラブソングはこのアルバムには存在しない。いえることはジョージリンチのギターがいつになくテンションが高いことである。ステレオタイプのハードロックを求めるファンにはこの渋い味は理解できないと想う。人間には渾沌とした精神状態もある、このアルバムにはそれが刻みこまれている。俺にはドンドッケンの悲痛な叫びは伝わる、英語は聞き取れなくちゃね。つうわけで、初心者にはおすすめできないな。いろんな音楽を幅広く聞き込んだ人物にこそおすすめの作品だ。だからこのアルバムのポイントは精神の暗部なのだから＝これがコンセプト。かなりパーソナルな作品なのだ。わからないファンが多くて当たり前の作品。おれはこの作品が極めて異例な作品なのでかなり好きなのである。時代が変われば評価も変化する。
