どちらかというと、トッドの”メロウ・サイド”に焦点が当てられている日本独自編集のベスト盤。今出ているベスト盤の中でも、もっとも充実した内容と言って良いでしょう。この1枚で彼の天才的なメロディ・メイカーぶりを、これでもか！とばかりに堪能できます。

トッドはやはり、”ベアズヴィル”時代の作品が一番充実していたと思うのですが、その”ベアズヴィル”時代の集大成的な決定盤です。トッド初心者の方にこそ強力にオススメしたいですね。リマスタリングも施されているので、サウンドも良いですよ。

今聴くと、ちょっと古く感じる部分もありますが、それでも当時はきっと斬新で先駆的、実験的だったんだろうなぁと充分に思わせてくれます。個人的に、コーラスとシンセサイザーの使い方には、とても時代を感じました。際立ったセンスのある歌詞やずば抜けた歌唱力、演奏力があるとは余り思いませんが、個性的な高い声とサウンドで自分の世界を創っていて、その中で様々な愛や希望、絶望を、普通の歌詞で歌い、表現している技術は凄いと思います。ただ、ジャケットのデザインがあまり・・・。

２枚組みのシングルスより内容が凝縮された一枚になってます。
やはり全体的にポップなメロディセンスが光ってます。
"I SAW THE LIGHT"はケイコ・リーがカヴァーしていた名曲です。

ホントに名曲の数々。
１曲目が特に好きです。いろんな人がカヴァーしていますが、やっぱ原曲がいちばん素直でみずみずしくて、またボーカルが素晴らしい＾＾
