とにかく、このヒリヒリとした、圧倒的な存在感のある声に完全に引き込まれてしまった私にとって、２０年以上前に初めて聴いた時からずっと聴き続けている音です。例え幸せな人生を歩んでいようが、愛する子供がいようが、人生は孤独であると、それが唯一の真実であると確信しているあなた（私）にのみ、届く声。好き嫌いがハッキリ別れる音楽です。出だしの数秒でわかります。このアルバムはJ.ケールのアレンジもすばらしくユニークでニコのアルバムの中でもベストだと思います。どんなジャンルにも属さないニコの音は時を超えて私の心の耳に響き続けています。

ニコの '70 年作。ソロ３作目。

Ａ面（[1]~[4]）はジョンケールのピアノが入る曲もありますが、演奏の中心はニコのハーモニウム（足踏みオルガン）のみです。前作 Marble Index より歌に旋律があって、何か重た~いものを連想する感じがたまりません。
Ｂ面はビオラなどの弦楽器が入ります。[5] [7] はいつもどおりヘヴィな曲ですが、[6] は 1st に入ってそうな牧歌調の曲ですし、[8] は無国籍風でフィルタがかかった音の語り部分も◎です。

一般的には次作 The End が最高傑作と言われていますが、バックにギュインギュイン(?)と、いろんな音がいっぱい入っているので、シンプルな「素」の Nico を聞くにはこのアルバムが一番です。ちょいと短い（２９分）のが珠にキズ。

レッチリのジョン・フルシャンテお気に入りの一枚ということで買ってみました。この人はソロのほうがいい気がします。
