　メンバーがいいですね。特にマッコイ・タイナーのピアノは、後年のようにゴリゴリとしておらず、適度にコロコロしたピアノがとても良いです。ジョー・ヘンダーソンのテナー・サックスもフィット。この二人がいると重くなりそうなのですが、それを軽快にしているのがビリー・ヒギンズの闊達なドラムです。1曲目はオーネット・コールマン作ですが、とてもノホホンとした明るい演奏。こういう面子に囲まれてハッチャーソンが軽やかにマレットをしならせるわけですから、こりゃ気持ちいい。60年代ブルーノートらしい清新な空気に溢れています。

びっくりしました(笑い) 英文解説に「ハッチャーソンのブルーノート作品中もっともハードにSWINGしている」と書いてて ハッチャーさんの参加音源はほとんど持ってるけど SWINGとは無縁 むしろ沈み込んでいくビートの上で心地好い浮遊している感じがハッチャーさんの魅力だと思っていたから ? と違和感を感じつつも注文して まずジャケが白い! ハプニングスを除くと だいたい黒と濃いブルー基調で写真も陰欝なイメージだろ 何故 こんな普通なんだよてのが手に取った第一印象。聴き始めると あっ ほんとにSWINGしてる! 凄いよ〜! マッコイとハービーの違いか この頃のマッコイは どんどん音が暗くなる一方のトレーンカルテットの反動かソロで動いてる時は 光有る所へ手を差し延べるが如く 明るい跳ねる音を指向している感がある 特にブルーノートの参加音源では そう感じるね。ずっと店でかけてたけど普通に凄い良い これ 「ハッチャーソンは暗いから嫌い」つうミルト・ジャクソンのファンにも オススメです。今までハッチャーさん聴いたこと無い人にハッチャーソン入門盤として自信持って勧める! まあ何枚か聴く内にハッチャーさんの陰欝な暗い洞窟の中で滴り落ちる冷たい雫の様な音の魅力にハマるね 抜けられないすよ マジで。(とほほの助)
