5.0 out of 5 stars ぐにゃぐにゃ…, 2005/7/9
cEVIN KEY氏のソロ・プロジェクトのアルバムで、
これより少し前に死去したD･R･Goettel氏も参加していました。
音の病み方はトンデモ無いレベルです。Skinny Puppyで使わない音色を
多用してますし、その音の粘っこさ、不気味さは強烈です。
後半ではかつてのプロジェクト、DOUBTING THOMASの雰囲気を残しており、
アンビエントともエレクトロニカとも言えない奇妙な世界観です。
全体的に派手さは無くひたすらパラノイアな音使いですし、
好き嫌いがハッキリ分かれると思います。

ちなみに多彩なゲスト･ミュージシャンの中にはThrobbing Gristle、
Psychic TVのGenesis･P･Orridgeも参加しています。

最近再結成して映画「ＵＮＤＥＲＷＯＲＬＤ」のサントラに１曲提供していたスキニ-・パピーのメンバーによる１９９６年の作品。ヘッドフォンで聴くとかなりやばい…不気味な音のカオスが脳を揺さぶってきて、ナチュラルトリップしそうになる…当時満員電車の中ウォークマンで聴くいて気が狂いそうになったな~（笑）。そりゃ~ドラッグのオーバードーズでメンバーが一人死んだのもなんか納得してしまうって感じの世界を表現している…。　個人的には前半の数曲以外はあまり好きやないねんけど、デジパックのかっこいいジャケと衝撃度で★５つ！！！

かの世界的JAZZｷﾞﾀﾘｽﾄ〜ｺﾝﾎﾟｰｻﾞｰのﾊﾟｯﾄ･ﾒｾﾆｰ（※本当は“ﾒｽｨｰﾆ”っぽく発音するそうで･･･）は、ﾉｲｽﾞ･ｷﾞﾀｰ･ｱﾙﾊﾞﾑをﾘﾘｰｽしてﾌｧﾝを困惑させました。ﾊﾟｯﾄ曰く、「僕の頭の中ではいつもこれと同じ様な音が鳴り続けているんだよ。」さて、Downloadのお二人の頭の中でもこの "The Eyes Of Stanley Pain"の様な音が鳴り続けているのでしょうか!?だとしたらお気の毒としか言い様がありませんね。（※ちなみに“中傷”ではありません。）実は小生、ﾉｲｽﾞとかｱﾊﾞﾝｷﾞｬﾙﾄﾞとかﾄﾗﾝｽとか称される類はもう死ぬ程大っ嫌いなのですが、不思議とSPKの1st/2ndやThrobbing Gristleの "20Jazz Funk Greats"は、聴いていると（※もちろん“うるせーなー”とは思いますが）気分が落ち着くのです。何かこう、動脈と静脈の血流のｽﾋﾟｰﾄﾞに絶妙にﾏｯﾁすると言うか･･･。Downloadのこのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑも、ｽﾋﾟｰｶｰで鳴らすと家族に総ｽｶﾝを喰らうので（苦笑）、もっぱらﾍｯﾄﾞﾌｫﾝで大音響で聴きます。小生にはとても“ｵｰｶﾞﾆｯｸ”に感じられるのです。ばりﾃｸﾉﾛｼﾞｰを駆使したｻｳﾝﾄﾞであるにも関わらず･･･。むしろ、かの有名なｷｬﾌﾟﾃﾝ･ﾋﾞｰﾌﾊｰﾄの「鱒のお面」の方が、緻密に計算された作り物の様な印象を受けます。（※このｱﾙﾊﾞﾑ、持っていますが何回聴いても途中で飽きて止めちゃうの･･･。）人には絶対薦めませんが、Downloadのこのｱﾙﾊﾞﾑを聴くことが小生の小さな楽しみであることは事実です。表面は“騒音”っぽいのですが、不思議と何度も何度も聴いてしまいます。先記のSPKやTGがOKな方は、安心して買ってください。小生にはその丁度中間当たりの感じなのが良さ気です。
