　ジミヘンとジョン・レノン、そしてリンゴ・スターを除く演奏は、すべて1996年にカール・パーキンスと共演するために、このセッションに共演したアーティストです。曲はお馴染みの1（1956）、6（1955）、9（1956）、11（1975）、12（1955）、14（1965）、16（1981）、17（1955）で、それ以外はこのアルバムのために書き下ろされた曲をレコーディング。

　たとえばバラバラではあっても、カールのためにビートルズの面々が集まってきたことを思いながら、この古き良き音楽に耳を傾けたり、5のトラヴェリング・ウィルベリーズ風のセッションを描きながら、すべての曲が肩肘張らずに楽しめる一枚に仕上がっています。

　カール・パーキンスといえば1950年代に大ヒット曲を連発したロック黎明期の大スターです。"Blue Suede Shoes"はサン・レコードの創業以来初のミリオン・セラーであり、またカントリー・ポップス・リズム＆ブルースすべてのチャートで3位以内に入った史上初の曲という名誉ある曲ですし、ほかビートルズがカヴァーした"Matchbox","Honey Don't"なども有名でしょう。ただ、50年代以降の活動はあまりぱっとしません。記憶に残るのはポール・マッカートニーの"Tug Of War"へのゲスト参加、1985年の企画ものライブでジョージ・ハリスン、エリック・クラプトン、リンゴ・スターと共演と、この作品ぐらいでしょう。
　このCDは1996年に発表されたカール・パーキンスのラスト・アルバムになります。とにかく、ゲストが豪華です。John Fogerty, Paul Simon, Bono, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson・・・こんなに豪華なゲストを迎えたアルバムも、そうはないと思います。このアルバムは、やはりゲストの豪華さを楽しむように聴くのがよさそうです。
　いくつも素晴らしいと思うものがありましたが、やはりベスト・トラックはPaul McCartneyの参加した感動的なバラード"My Old Friend"でしょう。ここではなんとMcCartneyが歌・ギター・ベース・ドラム・ピアノ・プロデュースを手掛け、ジョージ・マーティンがストリングス・アレンジとプロデュース、ジェフ・エメリックがエンジニアという凄いことになってます。
　なお、特に記載されていませんが、ジミヘンとジョン・レノンの演奏は勿論古い録音をそのまま持ってきたようですし、リンゴ・スターも「オール・スター・バンド」でのコンサートの録音を流用しているのかもしれません。
