スタン・ゲッツ初のボサ・ノヴァ・アルバム。と言っても、発案者であり共演者であるチャーリー・バードのギターは、正確にはボサ・ノヴァのそれではない。しかし、オリジナルそのままではなく、ジャズ風にアレンジしたからこそ、本作は北米ですんなり受け入れられ、のちのジャズ・ボサ・ブームの火付け役となったのかもしれない。

「イパネマの娘」がフィチャーされた１９６３年録音の超名盤でベストセラーの「ゲッツ＝ジルべルト」の影に隠れているが、こちらはその約１年前の録音。出来はといえば、ゲッツ＝ジルベルトにも劣らない。特に哀愁を帯びたチャーリー・バードのギターが素晴らしい。ラテンジャズファン、ボサノバファン、単にＢＧＭで聴きたい人、だれもが満足。それでいて、音楽的完成度は高いので飽きることは無い。ヴァーブ時代の全盛期のゲッツのパワー全開。冷たい白ワインなどを片手の夏の夕方にピッタリ（松本敏之）

　西海岸のジャズとボサノヴァはよく似合う。本アルバムは、その草分け的な存在。
　スタン・ゲッツのボサノヴァ・アルバムで最も有名なのは「イパネマの娘」が入っている「ゲッツ／ジルベルト」であるが、本作はその前奏曲に当たると言ってよいだろう。

　スタン・ゲッツのアルトサックスは真夏の打ち水のような涼感を持っている。それがボサノヴァの曲の雰囲気にとても合っている。

　「デサフィナード」「鵞鳥のサンバ」････いずれも良い出来であるが、本作の中で最も楽しめたのは、「ワンノート・サンバ」である。
　「ワンノート・サンバ」はボサノヴァの名曲でいろいろなミュージシャンが演奏を行っている。非常にシンプルな曲なので、演奏する人の特色が顕著に表れる点で気に入っているのだが、本作の「ワンノート・サンバ」も良い味を出している。ドラマーのブラッシングがとても心地よい。
