コペンハーゲンでのライブ録音だが、ライブならではの臨場感ある情報量の多い仕上がりで、目をつぶるとさながら客席にいる気分。聴きこむにつれ、イマジネーションなしに眼前にゲッツが見えてくる。
PA？、残響時間がやや長すぎるものの、オーディオマニアの人でもあまり神経質にならず、演奏そのものに聴き入ることが可能な録音。観客の拍手のほうが不自然なくらい、自分ひとりのためだけに演奏してくれている気分になれます。

「Serenity」と同じ時の、コペンハーゲンでのライヴです。ケニー・バロン（p）らのリズム・セクションとの連係も完璧。のびのびと自己の豊麗な音を拡げるゲッツに、ただただ聴き入るのみです。ラストの「Blood Count」、沈んだ暗い路をさまようかの如きソロが続くかと思っていると、最後の最後で眩い光が差し込んでくるように転調。まるで語っているかのようなゲッツの演奏に、鳥肌が立ちました。

個人的には「ソウルアイズ」「Serenity」と一緒に聞いているゲッツの晩年の傑作アルバムだが、選曲の面ではスタンダード主体で最も充実した内容かもしれない。I Can't Get Started、Stella by Starlight、I Thought About You 、What Is This Thing Called Love?などマイルス、クリフォード・ブラウン、ロリンズなどの名演でも知られるおなじみのナンバーだが、ゲッツの演奏は成熟した境地で見事なソロを展開しており、過去の同時代の巨人に一歩も引けをとっていない。ケニー・バロンをはじめとするバックを固めるリズムセクションも完成されたユニットで、息もぴったりである。バロンの流れるようなソロやコンピングも古臭くなく、優れたミュージシャンが少しでも長生きすれば、彼らのような有能なサイドメンが支えて名演をこの世に多く遺すことが可能になることを実証しているといえよう。そしてラストのBlood Countは特に感動的なトラックだ。これほど情感のこもったクールでソフィスケイトされた演奏はおそらくこれからのミュージシャンにはちょっと無理であろう。
