インコグニートのデビュー作のこのリイシュー盤は、ヒットシングル「Parisienne Girl」「Summers Ended」を収録している。ジャン・ポール・モーニックが1979年に結成したインコグニートは、英国音楽界で当初はジャズ・ファンク（それゆえ本作にこのタイトルがついている）の旗振り役となり、それから10年後にはアシッド・ジャズのムーブメントを引っ張った。そのことはジャケットに小文字で記されてしかるべきだ。インコグニートの音楽には、計算されたクールさが凝縮されているのだ。インコグニートは、最高のプロダクション、ていねいなブラスセクションのアレンジ、ソウルフルなヴォイス、ほぼ全面的にほどこしたベース音によって、正直言って即興性は低い（あるいは、まったくない）がファンク性の高い音楽を作りだす。常夏を思わせるインコグニートは真冬でさえ輝きを放ち、本作は行く手に雪が吹きだまろうとも溶かすことを保証している。本作と並んで、1995年のアルバム『100 Degrees and Rising』もおすすめ盤だ。インコグニートがどんなバンドか知らなくても、『Jazz funk』というタイトルが本作のすべてを物語っている。（Phil Brett, Amazon.co.uk）
