私は、このライブアルバムが大好きだ。確かに｢at Fillmore East｣に比べれば、たいしたことがないかもしれない。でも、それはあの凄すぎるライブ盤｢at Fillmore East｣と比較してしまうからだ。他のバンドのどのライブ盤と比べてみてもよい。このライブ盤より勝っているものが何枚あるというのか。

このライブ盤は、1972~75年間の5回のライブから良いテイクを選んで編集されている。その演奏は、グレッグの素晴らしいダミ声ヴォーカルとハモンドオルガン。伸びがあり、軽快なデッキーのリードギター。最高のピアノマン、チェック・ラベル（彼は近年、ローリングストーンズのツアーピアニストとして有名）。そしてツインドラムのブッチとジェイモ、ベースのラリー（彼は既に癌で他界）の3人の堅実かつ重厚なリ
ズムセクション。とてもイカした演奏だ。
｢at Fillmore East｣と比べるとカントリー色が強くなった分、ブルース色が弱くなっっており、また張り詰めた緊張感から、どちらかというとゆったりとした軽快な演奏になっている。
さぁ第2期のオールマンズを存分に楽しんで欲しい。

あの伝説のライブと比較してしまうのは酷なのかもしれない。アルバムとしての演奏に統一感が無く、また非常にゆったりした時間が流れている印象で、デュエイン時代独特の緊張感が無いのだ。録音時期もバラバラで散漫な印象を更に助長している。レイドバックという言葉があったが、このアルバムを聴くとその言葉はここでは適切ではないと感じた。しかしディッキーの頑張りや新加入のチャックリーベルの素晴らしいキーボードなど聴き所はある。名盤”ブラザーズ＆シスターズ”を生み出した時代の雰囲気を味わうのには十分だ。そういう意味で星４つはあげたいのだが、ジャムバンド、ライブバンドとしての評価で、どうしてもフィルモアライブと比較してしまうので星３つ。

全体にいわゆるレイド・バックしたオールマンズの演奏を楽しむことが出来るいいアルバムだ。特にJessicaの演奏はスタジオ版をしのぐ出来である。レイド・バックが単なるぶったるみではないということを例証た作品集。Duaneの死をそれとして認め歩き出そうとしているオールマンズの姿がここにはある。
