サロン・ミュージック風のピアノが流れる中、けたたましい汽笛が響き渡り、ローランド・カークが語ります。"さあ、旅の始まりだ。何処へでも行けるよ。準備はいいかい？"さぁ、ステレオのまん前、特等席へどうぞ(^^;
このパワフルな機関車は[2]で徐々にスピードを上げ始めます。今更、彼のプレースタイルに驚くものではありませんが、[2]の終盤での一人多重独奏はなかなかの聴きモノです。バート・バカラック作の[3]、デューク・エリントン作の[5]と、ゆったりと汽車の旅が続きます。
[7]ではちょいと趣向を変えてスローファンクなナンバーを披露。小粋なトークも車内を和ませます。
＃ヒアリングに自信のある方は、是非一緒に笑ってください(^^;
汽車は[10]でニューオーリンズへ。[11]の美しさに少し旅の終焉を予感しつつ、静かに、、ではなく賑やかに旅は幕を閉じます。
"ジャズは難しそうで"、"敷居が高そう"、"つまらない(!!)"、、まぁ、今までの私の思いそのままなんですが、この人は別！。もしR.カークに"オレの音楽って、つまらないか？"と訊かれたら"NO！"としか言えないでしょう？
異人だの奇人だのと言われていた時期もある彼ですが、ロックやポップスの世界を見渡して、これ程楽しい音楽を聴かせてくれるプレーヤーがどれ程いますか？
本作('74年作)は２枚組という事もあり、初めてR.カークに触れる人には一気に聴き通すのは一寸しんどいかも知れませんが、聴いているうちにきっとあなたなりのBright Momentsに出会えると思います。本当に私の大好きな作品です。

グロテスク？　Ｒ・Ｋはとても希有な人。ユニークという言葉はこの人のためにある。彼と比較できる人物を見つけるのは難しい。Ｒ・Ｋは常に輝いていた。ユニークな人間は凡人の太陽。我々はＲ・Ｋの音楽を聴いて心に暖かな光を浴びる。それは生きる悦び。ここでもＲ・Ｋは最上の悦びを我々に与えてくれる。ありがとう、Ｒ・Ｋ。
