日本のアーティストがトッドの曲をレスペクトして録音すると不思議に人気が集まるのがこのアルバムです。だから「ミュージシャン受けするアルバムだ」とかの単純なオチじゃあないよ。カバーが秀逸なのが7と14かな。(どのアーティストがカバーしているかは自分で探して下さい）トッドの曲単位でのベスト50を選ぶとするならば、僕のベスト10に入るのが13。でもこのＣＤが僕にとって決定的だったのは15のクールジャークです。キャピタルズの唯一のヒット曲なんだけどね。なぜか映画「ホームアローン」でも意外な場面で登場する曲なんだけど、これをカバーしちゃって紹介してくれるのがトッドの凄いところですね。もっとも、ピーターパンのテーマをカバーするロッカーもそんなにいないですけど。それとラスカルズへのオマージュがそのまんま出ちゃった19。このあたりの曲は歌詞が難しくてね。トッドの歌詞はジャクソン・ブラウン級に分かりづらくて。日本のロックシーンに影響が大きかったのは9じゃないかな？なんか、あがた森魚さんかムーンライダースって感じしませんか？中ジャケのグリーンのダリっぽいデザインも好きだったし、このアルバムの１０何年後にリリースされたＴime Ｈealsのビデオでダリっぽい背景が登場した時も、やっぱりトッドは首尾一貫していて、筋を通す人間なのだと感じ入りました。

ソロ４昨目。名曲はたくさんあり過ぎてどれが一番とは決めがたいが、アルバム全体ではある意味これが最高傑作でしょう。発売当時、レコードの収録時間をオーバーしたためレコードのみぞが狭くなり、”音飛びに注意”と記されていたそう。トッドはどうしても全曲収録したかったのでしょう。いや、当時CDやDVDがあったらもっと長い作品になっていたかも。5.1リマスターで再発することを強く望みます。

７３年発表のソロ４作目。内容、タイトル、ジャケットを含めておおよそのトッドのイメージを集約したようなアルバムで、音楽ファンなら絶対に外せない一枚かと思う。アナログ時代でいうＡ面、Ｂ面をノンストップで疾走していくサイキックでポップな音宇宙・・・おそらくトッドの頭の中にある設計図を忠実に組み立てていったであろう徹底的に完成度を追求したアルバムだと思う。前作にあった演奏の甘さは影を潜め、テレビのチャンネルをひねるかのように次から次へと音楽が出てくる様はまさに圧巻。このアルバムとフランク・ザッパの諸作との類似性は言わずもがななんだけど、それくらい完成度は高いわけで、これを聞かずして・・・という思いも強い。しかしながらザッパよりはポップな要素は強いものの、やはりこのノン・ストップ・ワールドは初心者にはチト重いかもしれない。絶対的な必聴盤ではあるものの、一番最初に聞くのは辞めた方が無難。馬の耳に念仏になる可能性高し。効果音やシンセの影に隠れて全体的な印象は掴みにくいものの、その内面にはソウル/Ｒ＆Ｂへの深い愛情が伝わってくる作品。後半の甘美なメドレーに酔いしれること間違いなし。
