サム・クックの歌声には、平面な絵が動き出して映像になるみたいな立体感がある。どのアルバムを聴いてもそれは感じられること。

このアルバム、個人的に大好きです。ナイトビートがブラックコーヒーなら、これはココアかミルクティー。
ハーレムスクエアの激しさもいいけど、29歳の独身の女としてはロマンチックな甘いムードが時には恋しくなるので。聴いてると甘さに酔います。

night beatに比べるとやや白人ストリングス使いで、こっちのほうが渋いかなと思っていたのですが、反対でした。
だからといって文句があるわけではなく、samの場合、はまってしまうのでやっぱりsamはすごいとしか言えません。でもやっぱりシンプルさ、渋さでいうとnight beatの方に軍配があがりますね。
