紙ジャケットのケースが赤と緑のビニールを張り合わせた特殊なものとなっている為、ジャケットの向きを入れかえると浮き出るデザインが変わるので楽しめます。
内容はというと、楽曲は彼らのキャリアの中ではいまひとつですが、録音は素晴らしく流石の一言です。

１９８６年２月ごろにリリースされた。前作「はげたか文化」が大好きな自分にとって約１年ぶりのこのアルバムの発表に非常に期待していた。アルバムを買う前にピーターバラカンの深夜の音楽番組で「ステレオトミー」のクリップを見たのを覚えている。原色の気色悪い背景をバックに２人のアニメの人間がばく転を繰り返すという変わったものだった。それ以上に曲に驚かされた。ボーカルが荒々しく前作のイメージとはまったく違う曲調だったからである。しかしアルバムを通して聞いてみるとこれまでのイメージと違う雰囲気の曲は少なく安心した。１は非常にドラマチックな曲で後半のエリックのボーカルパートがアクセントになっている。（このアルバムにはなぜかエリックのボーカル曲がほとんどない。コリンブランストーンのボーカル曲はひとつもない。）２曲目のクリスレインボーの曲はポップな曲調で、声質によく合ったボーカルがきける。４曲目は「青い影」で有名なプロコルハルムをボーカルに選んだ曲だがあまり僕は好きになれない。５曲目の「現実革命」はいい曲だが、このアルバムのハイライトはインストの「せいうちはどこへ？」だろう。ジェフベックの曲にチョッパーびんびんのシンセベースの曲があるが、あの曲に似たサウンドを基本に、スケールの大きい音世界が展開する見事な曲、その次の「光の世界」も「はげたか文化」「尿素通り」のバラードに匹敵する感動的な曲である。売り上げも前作や前々作とくらべるとかんばしくなく、あまり注目されない作品だが、これまでのイメージとはちがったスタイルに挑戦しようとした意欲作として評価したい。それからこのアルバムの曲を含めて、APPのPV集のDVD発売を強く期待する。ドントアンサーミー、やレッツトークなど優れたPVの多いアーティストなのでそこそこに売れると思うのだが、ぜひとも発売を期待します。

『Stereotomy』→『Beaujolais』→インスルメンタルを挟んでの『Limelight』とアラン・バーソンズ節が充分に出ているアルバム。『In The Real World』などはちょっとアメリカン・ロックみたいではあるが決してパーソンズ節の範疇は外していない。

目立たないけど結構傑作。
