In 1997, writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson boldly went where few other filmmakers have dared--America's multibillion-dollar pornography industry--and produced a clear-eyed portrait of '70s and '80s American cultural mores as lived out by an extened family of adult filmmakers and stars. Given the period, Anderson had a wealth of fond, cheesy pop to choose from (hence Vol. 2). Aside from a few shop-worn cuts (Hot Chocolate's "You Sexy Thing," perhaps the most overexposed '70s hit of 1997), the remainder are notably fresh. ジャケット上の文字をよく見ると、“#2”、となっている。映画そのものに続編があるかのような誤解を避けようという配慮か。それはともかく、第１弾の好評によって登場した、『ブギーナイツ』のサントラ第２弾なわけだが、いや~、ここまで中身のつまったアルバムになっているとは。“ダーク・ディグラー”の実家の自室の壁をカメラがぐるぐる回るカットに流れた“Joy”、ダークらがニセモノのヤクを売りに行き、さんざんな目に遭った時、その邸で流れていたBGM２曲目「ジェシーズ・ガール」、そしてジャック・ホーナー邸でのパーティー（昼の部）のシークエンスに流れていた曲の数々などをフィーチャー。サントラとしての楽曲の粒は第１弾の方が揃っているといえるが、こちらはより熱く、よりクドく、演奏時間の長ーい曲が多く、よりブギーな仕上がり（？）。個人的にアルバムとしてはこっちの方が好きだったりして、何かをする時など流しっぱなしにしたりしている。なお、PCで聴いていると、何かの拍子に演奏が止まったりすることがあるのだが、これはこのCD内にwebリンクが収録されているためかもしれない（ちなみにリンク切れ。映画の公式サイトではなく、米キャピトル・レコードHP内の“Boogie Nights”特設ページにリンクしていた模様）。
