タートルズからマザーズへ。
果てはT・Rex「テレグラムサム」の後ろっ側で
「アァァァ〜アアアァ〜　オオオオォォ　イエェー」と
マジカルなコーラスワークを披露していたFlo & Eddie。

彼らのリーダー作となる本作。
「Illegal, Immoral and Fattening」でいきなりクライマック！の
テンションで幕が上がり、続く「Rebecca 」では
抱きしめたいくらいの普遍的で素敵なナンバーに仕立てあげております。

もっともっと評価されて良い作品、楽曲達だと思うのですが
なんつっても本当のクライマックスは
「Eddie, Are You Kidding?/The Pop Star Massage Unit/Jumpin' Jack Flash」

タイトルにもある通り、ここで彼らは「Pop Star」を演じます。
ストーンズ、ジミヘン、ジョージ･･。
まず「Pop Star」って言ってる所から皮肉めいてますが。
それこそ「Eddie, Are You Kidding?」。
いわゆる代表曲をモノマネチックにプレイしております。

クリススペディングの作品「ギタージャンボリー」でも
チャックベリーから始まり様々なギタリストのギタープレイを小出しに
演じる楽曲がありましたが、正直比べるのも申し訳ない程に
彼らは投げやりです。

しかしそんな所さえも突っ込み所なのが
彼らの意図しているところでもあり魅力なんだと思います。


決して2人の風貌からは愛しいさなんて込み上げもしませんが
実はたまらない程に愛しい音楽バカの隠れた名盤です。
