‘74年に発表されたソロ３作目。僕にとってはJoeに初めて出会ったアルバムであるとともに、孤島に持っていくならこの１枚と言える生涯ベストの名作。
Joeのオハコのひとつトレモロアーム付ギブソンの心地よい音色のオーバードライブと後半にフューチャーされるメロトロンが印象的な１に始まり、
同年に交通事故で亡くなった最愛の娘に捧げたとされるとても美しい９まで、レベルの低い曲は一切ない。
ラベル好きの彼らしい３、名ライブ盤「You Can't Argue with a Sick Mind」バージョンと聞き比べると楽しい４、
“しらふ”じゃ作れない”ケッサク”な５、後のイーグルス参加が自然に思える名曲７、アルバム全てがひらめきに満ちている。
挑戦的なタイトルとジャケット写真は確かに彼の一面ではあるが、その音にはとびきりの繊細さという別の顔が良く現れている。

Eaglesを変えた男。Eaglesにハード・ロック感覚も持ち込んだ男。大統領選挙に出馬すると本気で（?!）言っていた男。
実は、Bay City Rollersが好きで、彼等の載っていた雑誌の一コマにこのアルバムが写っていたのでした。確かEric Falknerのコレクションだったと記憶している。その雑誌を片手にレコード屋に駆け込み、「これを下さい」........と言ったのは、恐らく中学校２年の頃。他に、Frank Zappaや。Linda Ronstadt等も確認出来たので、順を追って買っていったが、中ガキ生にそちらが理解出来るはずもなく箪笥の肥やしと化した。
しかし、このアルバムは違った。この種の音を聴いた事がない新参者にも充分理解出来る（ある意味）ポップなメロディ。変に難しくないギター。声変わりしても着いて行かれる中音域で推移するヴォーカル。そのどれもが非常に親しみ易く、判り易い。
昨今流行のyoutubeで当時の映像を見れるという信じ難い時代に成った。Eaglesの"Hotel California"でも顔を歪めてギターを聴いている氏ですが、やっぱり当時のソロ時代も同じ様な奇妙な顔でギターに一生懸命に感情移入しようとしていて、妙に笑える。

ピートタウンゼントから賞賛されていたギタリスト。このアルバムは一番彼のキャリアの中でソフトな部類、メローな部類に入る。ゲストを多数招き、自由気ままにおのれの信じる音楽を演奏。アメリカのルーツに根ざしたハートフェルトな楽曲がよい。バランスが１、２枚目に比較するとやや落ちる。　アルクーパーを尊敬しているらしい。ジグザグシしながらも前進していくジョーは自分に正直な音楽家。ジョーのバッファロースプリングスフィールドフリークぶりがわかる一枚。１０点中６点
ソングライティングセンス、ギタープレーのセンスがやはり光る
