前作「High Tension Wires」は、Steve Morseのソロ・アルバムとしてアコースティックなサウンドを追求したものでしたが、1991年発表の本作品は、Steve Morse Bandとしてファンキーなヘビーメタルと前衛的なカントリーをミックスしたインストを追求した作品です。
メンバーは、Guitar、Guitar SyntheにSteve Morse、BassにDave Larue、DrumsにVan Romaine。
元NIGHT RANGERのJeff Watsonが、中間部のタッピング・パートでエイト・フィンガーズ・タッピングと後半のSteveとのギター・バトルに参加している疾走感あふれるハード・チューン「CUT TO THE CHASE」、
クリーン・トーンのチキン・ピッキング・パートとディストーションのかかったヘビーメタル的なメインテーマからなる「SIMPLE SIMON」、
カントリー・フレーバーたっぷりな「SOUTHERN STEEL」等のSteve Morse Bandの代表曲を収録する最高傑作アルバムです。

あらゆるジャンルのエッセンスをブレンドしたユニークな音楽集団ドレッグスを率いる天才ギタリスト＝steve morseのソロアルバム。この人のギターの特徴はとにかく豪快で力技でねじ伏せると言う感じの＝まるでカールゴッチのようなテクニシャン＝演奏スタイルなのである。彼は相当なホラー映画マニアらしくちょいとstrange な感じの曲想もかなりある。.しかしこのパワートリオの可能性を突き詰める感じの今回のsteve morse bandは彼の傑作と呼んでも差し支えない程の質を持っている。アグレッシヴでインパクト十分な華麗なリフや魔術師のような見事な指さばきなどきりがないのだけれど、やはり今回の作品は全体的に彼の趣味である＝ホラー映画＝精神的に高まる興奮とスリリングな展開がホラー映画の大切な条件なのだ＝そういう彼の資質が音に見事に出ていて感心させられる。個人的にイルカの泣き声フレーズと呼んでいるのだが、今回は登場回数もかなり多い。それだけテンションが高いアルバムと言える。フレーズを高速でひきながらかなりアグレッシヴになるのだが、そう言うレベルになっても自分の美学を崩さないsteve morse ＝グレッグハウとともに世界最高のギタリストである。このアルバムはモダンプログレハードと分類できると思う。この分野が好きな人には特におすすめいたします。このアルバムはギターミュージックの到達し得た最高の地点に位置するものなのである。マグマのごとく炸裂するギターなら、やはりsteve morse でしょう~~。

１９９１年リリースのソロ第４作目・・・超絶炸裂のギターインストアルバムに仕上がっています。１曲目「カットトゥザチェイス」はなんとナイトレンジャーのジェフワトソンとの共演、聴き応え十分です！！とにかくスティーブモーズのメロディアス＆スピーディなギタープレイは、唯一無二のものですね・・・素晴らしい。デイブラルーとヴァンロメインのリズムセクションも強力です、必聴！！
