明るい。子気味よくタイトなビート。カラッとしたピアノが空に広がっていく。そんな感じです。

比較的最近出た彼のアルバムの中では一番好きです。ご自身の有名曲のセルフカバーをされている訳ですが、シンプルにまとまって、なんだかジョーシンプルという感じなんですけど。レニーカストロ→ジェイアンダーソンのタッグと、スティーブガッド→マーカスミラーのタッグの２組のリズム隊の使い分けが実にセンス良くまとまっています。２曲目の"I'm coming back again"で、ダイアンリーブスが実になんとももはや、素敵な素敵な歌声を聴かせていて、その時のスティーブガッドの繊細なバッキングときたら、ため息ものです。はっきりいって、オリジナルのアレンジや演奏より、こっちの方がリズムをアップデイトさせただけあって、すっきり楽しく聴けます。僕が聴いた中で一等賞は、８曲目の"Free as the wind"。マーカスミラーとスティーブガッドの上で、それこそ風のようにピアノを弾くジョーさん。素晴らしいです！

ジョージデュークをプロデューサーに迎え、過去の作品を録音しなおしたもの。コンピレーションとも言えるわけだけれど。

こういう企画はリスク面のほうが大きいと思われる。なぜなら、オリジナル録音時の輝きを越えるのは至難の技だから。相当企画会議＝ブレーンストーミングしないと無理かも。逆にミュージシャンは安全地帯に残留できるのだが。聴いてみると、あんまし変更点はないように思われる。ジョージデュークの起用もあまり必然性が感じられない。

皮肉なことに今、『リチャードティー』の昔のアルバムのほうが売れているのだ。ピアニストとしてはリチャードのほうが人気が根強いみたいね。
現状維持つううことで。１０点中５点
