"SUBSTANCE"がの陰に隠れ、このベスト盤はやや地味な印象を受ける。でも全体的に一枚のアルバムの構成はこっちのほうが個人的に好きで、自然にアルバムを通して聴けるようにしあがっていると思う。夏ドラマにもサウンドトラック的に通して使われそう。ハネルよりは自分を軽く合わせて流す感じ。ただ、TEMPTATIONないのはイタイから星４ツ。

let's goはNHKのトップランナーで
大々的に使用されてます。
この曲はサントラ『salvation!』
(1987年)に収録されていた。
激烈ド下手インスト曲(但しファン
にはたまらない)のボーカル版で
このbest of のUS盤(1995年)に
8年越しでありながら、何の
前触れもなく収録されました。
ボーカルのメロは新作ですよ！
所が全くレヴューもされません
でした。通常盤best of発売から
１年たっていたのですが、
普通は同じ内容のはずですから
みんな見逃したのでしょう。
かなりインパクト強かった。
何で誰も何も言って無いんだ？
って。もどかしかったです。
それが今メインテーマに使用で･･･

1963-95これはアーサーベイカー
のリミックスで、彼は初期ヒップ
ホップのプロデューサーで有名で
noのメロウサイドには関係無か

ったはずでした。ところがこの
ミックスでは・・・何とピーター
フック風のメロディアスベース
が延々と鳴り響く。私にとって
格段にメロウネス増幅ver.だった
のです。そんな才能有ったのかよ！
アーサー！これもレヴュー見た事
ありません。true faith 94など
オリジナルとどこが違うのか
よく分らない物でしたし。
そんなもんだろうと見逃したん

でしょうか･･･

new orderは注目してないと
見逃してしまう事が少なから
ずです。最近ではsuch a good
thing。いまさらworld in motion
なんて誰が買うんだよ！と
思ったんですが。B面が鼻血モノ

何だかとても奔放で･･･
たまんなく魅力的ですよねえ

はい。他の方も書かれていますが、この『ベスト・オブ（US盤）』の最大の売りはNHKの「トップランナー」のOPで有名な「レッツ・ゴー」を収録しているところです。おかげでこの曲を聴くと本上まなみの顔が浮かんでしまうようになったNOファンが何人いることか（笑）。NOの楽曲が地上波でかかること自体ごくまれなので、おそらく日本で一番有名なNOの曲ではないかと。もともと「1963」というシングルのカップリングで、BOXセットの『レトロ』にも入ってるNO特有の泣きメロ炸裂の超名曲ですが、この『ベスト・オブ（US盤）』収録のテイクのみフェードアウトしないフルレングス・バージョンという、出血大サービス。

あと、日本盤やUK盤ではフルレングスだった「トゥルーフェイス'94」がレディオ・エディットだったり、「1963」が "Arthur Baker Radio Mix" だったり、あと見落としがちなのが「ルインド・イン・ア・デイ」がアルバム・バージョンだったり（日本盤・UK盤ではレディオ・エディット）。まあ、シングルになってないのに「エイジ・オブ・コンセント」や「ドリームス・ネバー・エンド」を収録してるのはNOのロック・サイドを象徴してるナンバーだから、と大目に見ましょう。

個人的には「ビザール・ラヴ・トライアングル'94」のボーカルが完全新録で、サビの歌い回しが現在ライヴで演奏されているのに近い感じなのがツボで、それ一曲のためにでも「買い」かな、と。

『サブスタンス』の深さには遠く及ばないが、ヒット曲をさらっと聴けるお手軽さはなかなか貴重なのではないかと思います。残念なのは『ブルー・マンデー88』をシングル・バージョンで収録していること。せっかくアメリカのビルボードのクラブ・チャートで一位になったのだから、US盤だけでも１２インチ・バージョンを入れて欲しかった。リミックス監修のクインシー・ジョーンズ特有のウネウネベースが堪能できるのは１２インチの方なので。
