バッファローはナイアガラの滝に行くと泊まるアメリカ側の町。
ＮＹ州だけど、マンハッタンとは大違い（というよりマンハッタンが特殊なだけ）で、アメリカのどこにでもあるような町。
ここを拠点にしているトリオバンドgoo gooは、町と同じで”一聴”どこにでもいそうなバンド。
でも、特にVo・ＧのJOHNが作る歌は、直球勝負だけど親しみやすい歌ばかり。
1からトップギア、3･4とノリのよい曲が続き、トップ10ヒットとなった6は、温かみのある左右に振られたアコＧの刻みが心地良い。
少しダーテイーな雰囲気だけどカッコいいラストの13まで、一気に聞かせます。
インパクトのある計算されたジャケットと、対照的にメンバーの食べ散らかし中スナップの乱雑さ。
この”まあ、細かいことはどうでもいいじゃん”的雰囲気は、いかにもアメリカンバンド。でも、確か彼らの始めてのプラチナアルバムだったと思います。
シンプルなんだけど、'９５年の発売以来１０年間愛聴し続けさせる、ヒューマンなアルバムです。

前作までと比べ、格段にメジャー感が増した1995年発表の5thアルバム。
シングル"Name"のヒットに引っ張られる形で本アルバムもダブル・プラチナムとなり、ニューヨーク州バッファローのローカル・バンドだった彼らを全米規模の成功に導いた大ヒット・アルバムである。
赤ん坊が写されたアルバム・ジャケットを見て、条件反射的にグランジ／オルタナティヴ系の音を連想してしまう人もいるかもしれないが、このアルバムで聴ける音は実にオーソドックスなアメリカン・ロックだ（楽器のチューニングやサウンド・プロデュースは少々グランジ／オルタナティヴ風ではある）。
ファストなロックン・ロールにしろ、スローなバラードにしろ、個々の曲の完成度が異常に高く、多くの人が持つロックのイメージを具体化したようなアルバムである。
これだけメジャー感のあるアルバムでありながら、媚びた感じが無いところも凄い。
普通、これだけメジャー感のある音作りをすると嫌味な感じがするものだが、彼らの場合、視線がロック・リスナーの方を向いているため、嫌味な感じがしない。
大人が聴いて楽しめるアルバムであると共に、キッズのロック入門編としてもぴったりのアルバムだ。

荒削りだけれど、才能が光っている一作。
ジョン・レズニックの作り出す歌詞には、人をひきつける魅力に溢れており、その世界に引き込まれてしまう。このアルバムでは、まだ、他のバンドに影響を受けた曲もある。 ”Ｎａｍｅ”はとてもＧｏｏＧｏｏＤｏｌｌｓらしい曲で、アコースティックな感じが、良さを引き出している。アメリカンロックが好きな人には、オススメのバンド。
