アルバム冒頭で、殿下が警告しています。
趣向（ワーナーへの嫌がらせ？）があるから、家族のいるところで聞くなよ、という配慮でしょう。
余談ですが、私はこのアルバムと映画『恋人達の予感』を、つい聞き較べてしまいました。（笑）

本作品は、ワーナーと絶縁するため、契約消化で出したアルバムだそうです。
だから、「Prince 1958-1993」と、墓碑銘のようなデザインなのでしょうか。
殿下の子供っぽい性格が透けて見え、個人的には可愛いなと感じます。
音はクール。このジャケ写同様、いつもの派手さはありませんが、侮れません。
歌詞はおなじみの調子ですが、社会派な曲も織り交ぜてあるところが新味です。

以前は「黒人の血を引くだけで『ブラック・ミュージック』と括られるのは心外」
と漏らしていた殿下でした。
しかし、この頃になると、「自分はブラック」という肯定的自覚が芽生えたようです。
人種差別を歌った「Race」は、「Count The Days」「Family Name」等へと続く基点と思われます。

このアルバムで、私が最もはまった曲は「Dark」でした。地味ながら、名曲。
聞くほどに、暗くて熱い情念の世界に引き込まれ、「はまる」という表現がピッタリでした。
「Dark」は本人も気に入っていたらしく、『Crystal Ball』に別バージョンを収録しています。
本作の方がこってりソウルフルな音で、JBっぽいシャウトが引き立ちます。
同年発表された幸福感いっぱいの「the BEAUTIFUL experience」ともども、聞き較べると面白いですよ。

素直に殿下はすごいと思った。
この作品で私は殿下にはまり、そして今も尚進化続ける殿下に常に驚く。

comeで始まるのこアルバムは、波打つ様に心地よく、本能のままに聞ける作品だと思った。

最後の締めには殿下らしい味付けがしてあるが、どれにしろ心から感じるままに作ったと思った。

プリンスに興味があったけれど、なかなか踏み込めない方っていると思いますが、

彼は常に進化し続ける。

その時の気持を常に音楽にしてぶちまける。

そんな殿下らしいアルバムなので、聴いてみると良いと思います。

まぁ、子供ならちょっと殿下は入りにくいw

大人だからこそ楽しめるのが殿下だとも思います。

豊かな才能に感銘を受けます。

プリンスのCDでは評判あまり良くないcomeですが承知の上でCDとDVD購入しました。私は最高に好きです、淫靡な楽曲はプリンスの最大な魅力です。こういう曲を歌い創り奏でるプリンスに魅了されたのです。男女の境界をぶち壊す悪魔的なプリンスcomeです!
