言わずとしれたジョニ・ミッチェルですが、
以前、ギターとアカペラで収録されていたbig yellow taxiを
janet jacksonの got til its goneでのサンプリングを期に（？）
96年に新しいプロデュースで再発売されたものだと思います。
ちなみに７はそのオリジナルになります。

オリジナルのパフォーマンスもギターの疾走感に乗せて
その鋭い視点から書き上げられた印象的な歌詞を一気に歌い上げるもので、とてもよい。
しかし生まれ変わったbig yellow taxiの素晴らしさといったら…
言葉にするのが難しいですが、
バックコーラスとmellowなトラックによって、
あの印象的なメロディーに乗った
dont it always seem to go that you dont know what you’ve got til its gone
big yellow taxi took away my old man
というフレーズが耳を捉えて話さない。
またその他の鋭い歌詞の説得力も格段に増しおり、
聞くたびに、いろいろなことについて気づかせてくれるし、考えさせられる。

janetのサンプリングを期に再評価され始めた楽曲なので
代表曲の多いjoniの作品の中では埋もれがちだったし、
オリジナルの７が使用されることが多いので、
より現代的なアレンジに生まれ変わったbig yellow taxiは
おそらくこのシングル以外には収録されていない可能性がある。

ただ２~６のクラブリミックスは付け焼刃程度で特に取り上げるものではない。
とにかく１、７は素晴らしいとしか言いようがない…

いわずと知れた大名曲、Big Yellow Taxi。

ですが、私めは、Janet JacksonのGot 'Til It's Goneのネタとして、
この曲を知りました。
そう、サビの部分で歌われているのが、この曲です。
そんなこんなでこの曲を購入したのですが、驚愕でした。
一瞬にして、JONIファンの仲間入りです。

どういえばいいのか、JONIの歌い方は、変則的で？(アコギも？)

何かまとわりつくような？、それでいて心地いい感じです。
うーうまく言えません。簡潔にいうなら「最高にかっこいい」です。
冒頭でjanetをあげましたが、その他多数の人が、カバーしてます。

ってなわけで、彼女の話ですが、カナダ生まれのシンガーソングライター。
Judy CollinsやCSN&Y等にも曲を提供しています。天はニ物を与えたらしく

美大卒の彼女は、個展なんかも開いています。

そんな彼女のファンの仲間入りしませんか？
歌詞もよければ、声も、曲もいい、最高ですよ。
