個人的には、このアルバムがサバスの最高傑作だと思います。

とにかく"リフマスター"トニー・アイオミのギターがカッコいい！とくに345の中盤、そして8なんかは、全メタルファンに聴いてもらいたい。いろんなタイプのメタルがあるけど、でもやっぱり帰るところはココ、なんて思えてきます。

当時は無名だった名ボーカリスト、トニー・マーティンも若々しくも堂々とした歌唱で、すでに大器であることを証明してます。次作の"Headless Cross"がコージー・パウエルの参加もあって有名ですが、どうかこの隠れた名盤も聴いてみてください！

この時代（トニーマーチン在籍時）のSabbathにありがちなのが，アルバムの中でどれか１曲はいいのだが，他はどうも，ということ．このEternal Idolもしかりだ．しかしShiningだけは間違いなく秀作と言っていい．他の曲はあきらめるつもりで，Shining１曲のためだけにこのアルバムを購入しても損はない（このジャンルが好きな人なら）．音楽ジャンルの分け方は人によって異論はあろうが，様式美ヘビーメタルの，ひとつのあるべき姿だと思う．私の中では中世ヨーロッパ的なムードが漂う，正に典型的様式美ヘビーメタルの世界だ．

セブンススターは本来トニーアイオミのソロアルバムとして制作されたが、結局サバス名義で発表された。したがってこのアルバムに参加したメンバーが新生ブラックサバスとなった。しかし問題が生じた。グレンヒューズだ。歌えないグレンをクビにして若いヴォーカリストを新に雇いいれた。レイギランである。アメリカでのコンサートはレイと廻り、その後ニューアルバムの制作に取り掛かりました。すなわちエターナルアイドルです。しかしデモまで出来上がっていながらレイは脱退、次に迎えられたのは無名の新人トニーマーティンだった。このCDを手に取ることがあったらプロデューサーやプレイヤーのクレジットを見てほしい。何人も載っているでしょ!つまりプロデューサーも含めて固定メンバーで制作されたものではないのだ。ギーザー抜きのサバスサウンドといえばわかる人にはわかると思うけど、本作のような音のことで重たいんだけど重さの質がこれまでとは違っています。ぜひ自分の耳で確認してみてください。なお、次作より両トニーにコージーパウエルとニールマレイを加えた固定編成になります。
