「噂」でも「ミラージュ」でも無く、僕にとってのＭＡＣは「タンゴ・イン・ザ・ナイト」。ジャケットの美しさから言っても既に息を呑む名盤。一曲一曲のクオリティは極めて高く、しかも全体に統一された雰囲気はまさにタンゴ・イン・ザ・ナイトそのまんま。

一曲目「Ｂｉｇ　Ｌｏｖｅ」から最終曲「Ｙｏｕ　Ａｎｄ　Ｉ」まで捨て曲どころか無くてはならない曲ばかり。
昔のファンにしてみたら、ＰＯＰＳに寄り過ぎた物足りなさが残るんだろうけど、全体を流れる幽玄味は、ＲＯＸＹの「ＡＶＯＲＯＮ」にも全くひけをとらない屈指の名盤。
唯一の難点は、録音レベルの低さだけかな。

ぜひぜひ２４Ｂｉｔリマスターで再発して下さ~い。
このジャケットなんで当然紙ジャケでお願いしま~す。

３人の優れたソングライターを擁するこのバンドが発表したアルバムの中で、最も３人の楽曲バランスが取れた作品です。
個人的にはリンジーが大好きですが、ヒット曲を作曲する能力は、２人の女性陣には劣ります。本作ではその２人がこれまでより少し後ろに退いた分、「Big Love」という「Go Your Own Way」以来の名曲を書いたリンジーとのバランスが取れています。
そして、リンジーのアレンジ・プロデユース能力は本作が最も発揮されています。特筆すべきは、全編に亘る多彩なコーラスワークと過不足ないアレンジです。
名作「Rumours」といえども、コーラスはシンンプルです（曲が図抜けていたので、必要充分ではありますが）。３人の声質・音域の特徴を生かして、和音のパートを曲毎に違えて個性ある曲作りをしています。また、わざとサンプリング風にコーラスをつけたり、思いっきりサンプシングしてみたり、そのせいか聞く度に曲の表情が変わるように感じます。
前作の「Mirage」同様、短めのポップ感覚のアプローチは踏襲されていますが、オーバープロデユースになっていません。リンジーが陥りがちなヒステリック感がなく、余裕を持って”遊んでいる”印象です。
そしてＣＤで見ても見事なジャケットワークが加わり、最高の大人のロックアルバムに仕上がっています。

Fleetwood Mac 全盛期メンバーでの最後のオリジナル・アルバム。
個性豊かな３人のメイン・ボーカリストを擁しながらも、不思議と一つのバンドの音に纏まっているという、このバンドでしかできない芸当を見事に披露してくれています。
Macの「定番」は他のアルバムだと思うのですが、Macに興味を持った方には、まず華やかな印象のあるこのアルバムをお勧めします。
