後期（再編前ですね）Doobie Brothersを牽引したMike McDonaldが「満を持して」発表したソロ作であるが、メロディー・メイカーとしてのMikeの魅力が爆発している。この後発表するアルバムがどうしても本作を上回れないのは、この楽曲のクォリティによるもの。スマッシュ・ヒットした"I Keep Forgettin'"だけでなく、最初から最後までの「いい曲」続きは今聞いても感動。80年代最高のBlue Eyed Soulアルバムのひとつである。達者なバックの助演陣も聴きもの。素晴らしい！

既に多くのBest盤が発売されているので、今更...と言う事なかれ！80年代ＡＯＲを語るなら、避けて通れない大傑作ですから。
確かに“2”の完成度が高すぎるあまりに、他の曲が霞んでしまう感もありますが、ﾗﾝﾃﾞｨ･ｸﾞｯﾄﾞﾗﾑとの共作“3”と“6”の洗練された作り込みや、
ｷﾞﾀｰｿﾛがｶｯｺ良すぎるｱｯﾌﾟﾃﾝﾎﾟの“7”、ﾄﾞｳｰﾋﾞｰBros調のＡＯＲ系“1”、“8”、“10”など、Best盤では殆ど無視状態。
ｹﾆｰ･ﾛｷﾞﾝｽと仕上げた“4”は、流石に取り上げてるようですが。
彼のｳﾞｫｰｶﾙは言うまでも無く、当時の最高峰ミュージシャン（当然ＴＯＴＯメンバーも参加）とのコラボレートが生み出した傑作、
下手なＡＯＲコンピアルバムより、絶対おススメ。Best盤では味わえない「当時の香り」を感じてください。

スティーリーダン経由ドゥービー・ブラザーズ、そのマイルド且つ、少しハスキーなトーンで、ドゥービー加入後はバンド・カラーまで変えてしまったM.マクドナルド。
ドゥービー解散後(その後、M.マクドナルド抜きで復活しますが。。)のリーダーアルバムであり、誰に遠慮(?)することなくその魅力を遺憾なく発揮しています。
AORと言ってしまえばそれまでなのですが、そこはそれ。人望と人脈を活かして、堅牢なバックメンバーを揃えています(S.ガッド、J.ポーカロ、S.ルカサー、T.スコット、R.フォード etc..)。
スマッシュヒットした"I KEEP FORGETTIN'"もいいですが、小曲でありながら、彼のセンチなピアノだけで構成される"I CAN LET GO NOW"がいいアクセントになっています。
それにしてもいい声なんですよねぇ。秋の夜長にぴったりだと思いますよ。
