このアルバムを見た人はみんな言うことだけれど、
まずジャケットがいい！美しすぎる浜辺に佇むメンバー達。
これを見るためだけでも買う価値がある、とまでは言わないけれど
1st~4thのエコバニは内容もジャケもとにかくいいです。

で、肝心の内容ですが、基本的には前作の延長線上の音。
マッカロクの独特のヴォーカルも、幻想的で尖ったギターも、

変化に富んだドラムも、ベースも冴えに冴えている。
全員の個性がいい具合にぶつかりあっていて、
音の厚みが増し曲のバラエティも豊かな文句なしの傑作。
全体的に曲調は1stに比べるとやや落ち着いたが
冷え切ったサウンドながらも内に秘めた情熱は不変だ。

特に「A PROMISS」は大好きな曲なのでおすすめ。

８０年代のイギリスが産んだ最高のアルバムの一つです。

１９８１年にリリースされたセカンド・アルバムです。前作同様、翳りのあるサイケデリック・サウンドとダークでクリアーなヴォーカルが素晴らしい作品となっています。前作よりもさらにスケールを増し、ダイナミズムまでをも手中に収めた作品と言え、メジャー感溢れるサウンドは、バンドの充実したコラボレーションを物語っており、ＵＫチャートでトップ・テン入りするほどの成功をもたらしました。前作より格段にアップしたテンションの高い楽曲の揃い、迫力あるIanのヴォーカルとクールなギター、そしてタイトなビートが印象的なサウンド指向をもっていました。クールな感触のサウンドとは反比例した情熱が感じられる作品でもあります。既にギター・バンドとしての完成形をこの作品で提示してしまった彼??は、次作以降に更なる進化を果たすこととなります。バンドの早熟さを物語る、初期Bunnymenの決定版となる名作アルバムです！
