誤解を招かないように最初に断っておくが，私は70 年代後半の Fleetwood Mac を心から愛している． しかしながらこのアルバムについては厳しい評価を下さざるを得ない．

"Rumours" 製作の過程でバラバラになってしまったバンドの力学は"Tusk" では奇跡的に良い方向に働いて，彼らにとっての "White Album" を生み出した．しかしこのライブでは離れてしまった5人の気持ちが一つになることはない．バンドのキャリアを通じて常に高いレベルで懐深く土台を支えてきたリズム隊はここでも確実に演奏をサポートしようとしている．リンジーのギター，クリスティンのキーボードも無論ミスをすることはない．しかし，演奏全体の疲労感，集中力のなさはどうにも隠しようがない．彼らの魅力を知ってしまった者にとって，このライブ盤のただ時間が過ぎれば良いとさえ言いたげなおざなりなアンサンブルや気のないコーラスを聞くのははっきり言って苦痛でしかない．

再結成としては異例のテンションの素晴らしいライブ盤 "The Dance" がある以上，特別な理由がない限りこのアルバムを買う理由はない．

ザ・ダンスを聴いて感動した後、こっちを買うべきって人がいたから、もっと素晴らしいかと期待して買ったらがっかりでした。全盛期のメンバーが揃ってるからといって、全盛期とは限らないということを思い知らされました。少なくとも、このライブは最高には程遠い出来です。

この性急なだけの演奏の、どこにグルーブがあるのでしょうか？例えばGo Your Own Wayを聴き比べただけでも、ザ・ダンスの方はタメがあり、引き締まって、コクがある豊かな演奏ですが、こちらの演奏はどこに取り柄があるのかさっぱりわかりません。

サポートメンバーがいない？同じGo Your Own Wayのイントロで、ギタリストはリンジーだけのはずなのに、エレキギターとアコギが同時に聞こえるのはなぜでしょうか？サポートがいるか、後から重ね録りしたかのどちらかでしょう。別にサポートがいてもオーバーダブでも、いい演奏なら何も問題じゃないと思いますが（もちろんオーバーダブが多すぎると「ライブ盤」としては問題だと思います）、中途半端な聴き方で「素晴らしい」とか勧める人もいるってことがよく分かりました。

同じ失敗をして欲しくなくて、敢えて投稿しました。このアルバムを聴いたせいでフリートウッドマックを嫌いになって欲しくないです。フリートウッドマックはこのライブよりも、もっと凄いバンドです。

私はTusk Tourでマックが１９８０年２月に来日したとき、武道館でのコンサートに２回行きました。私のように当時のマックを愛してやまない人にとっては、あのときの熱気とエネルギーを封印した本作は必携と言っていいでしょう。何しろ、１曲目Monday Morningは東京でのLive。これだけでも感涙ものです。それに続けてヒット曲Say you love meがたたみかけてきて、私はこの２曲でもうノック・アウト状態になります。ただし、本作購入にあたって注意すべきは、Dreamsを含め数曲が聴衆なしの状態での演奏であるということ。また、私の記憶が正しければ、You make loving funやThink about it等の曲も演奏したはずで、そうすると本作はTusk Tourの完璧な記録ではないことになります。そうであっても、聴衆入りのLiveでの演奏はどれも熱演。特にLindseyがエレキ・ギターでぐいぐい引っ張って行く様子は圧巻です。他のレビュアーが書かれているように、確かに９７年のLive「ザ・ダンス」は傑作ですが、やはりマック絶頂期のLiveのエネルギーと熱気は本作でしか味わえないのですから、本作は古くからのファンにも最近この時期のマックに関心を持つようになった新しいファンにもお薦めです。それにしても、あの東京公演から四半世紀以上たってしまったのですね。RhiannonでのStevieのひらひら踊りは今でも目に浮かびます。感無量です。
