   80年に発表したプリンスのサードアルバム。前作『Prince』では、その高いクオリティが評価されたが、本作ではその音楽的クオリティに、さらにジャケットに象徴されるような過激な自己演出と赤裸々な歌詞を加え、内容の濃い作品に仕上げている。
   あまりにエロティック詞に、ピーター・バラカンは恥ずかしくて最後まで聴けなかったらしい。サウンドはファンキーなのだが、<3>のようなファンタジックな曲もあり、ちょっと変わった楽しみ方ができる。アナログではB面に当たる<5>から<8>の流れが痛快だ。（麻路 稔）

80年発表、3rdアルバム。
前2作とも殆どをファルセットで歌っていた王子だが、本作から少しずつ地声を出すようになる。
全体的にテクノを意識した雰囲気も感じられる。後半（アナログ的にはB面）ファンク色も強い。

ファンでさえ、王子の視覚的センスには思わず吹き出す時がある（前作の裏ジャケはプリンス自身が裸で白いペガサスに乗っている）。
だが、あの「いくらなんでもやりすぎ」露悪趣味が確実に彼の音楽性に反映されているのだと思う。
なぜなら、この頃から、王子は自らの「あく」というか「毒」みたいなものをまき散らし始めるからだ（まあタイトルからしてそうだ・笑）。
彼にとってのグルーヴ感が性的な意味合いとリンクするのも顕著になるのも本作からだ。
王子また一歩大人への階段を上る、そんな匂いが、もわーっと立ち昇るアルバム。
但し、お下劣になったせいか、歌詞は印刷されていない。

5.0 out of 5 stars その後のプリンスのイメージを決定付けた作品, 2004/11/11
2ndの「プリンス」では素の姿を見せた。3rdにあたる本作では素肌にブリーフ、変形ライダースジャケットというかなりユニーク（…というか気持ち悪い）いでたちで登場。良くも悪くも「先進的」「変態」というその後のプリンスのイメージはここからスタートしたと思う。

ポップ職人ぶりは健在。というか、その点に関しては現在に至るまで変わらない。音楽的には余分なものをそぎ落とし、よりシャープになった。

かの「ローリングストーン誌」のレコードガイドブックでは、プリンスの作品の中でこの作品の評価が最も高く、長らく最高点を維持していた。プリンスの初期の作品の優れている点は、極限まで音を削ぎ落とした緻密なアレンジと演奏のキレである。全楽器を自分１人で演奏出来る殿下ならではであろうが、打ち込み等に頼らないグルーヴ感が非常に心地よい。Ｍ２、Ｍ５、Ｍ６など、さりげないのに真似出来ない。シンプルで奥が深い。
