   1983年の解散後、ついにシン・リジィが再結成されることはなく、リーダーのフィル・ライノットは36歳の若さでこの世を去った。なのに、彼らを理想とし憧れるミュージシャンは後を絶たない。ミュージシャンの中のミュージシャンと言っていいだろう。
   彼らがなぜそれほどまでに慕われるのか、答えはこのライヴ・アルバムを聴くと分かる。『ライヴ・アンド・デンジャラス』は、ロンドンとカナダで行われたライヴからセレクトされたもの。1曲ごとに音声が途切れるのは仕方がないとして、各曲のプレイの素晴らしいこと。各パートがたっぷりと自らの腕前を披露し、観客は大歓声によってメンバーのプレイにこたえる。ライヴならではの緊張感や熱気がビンビンと伝わってきて、まるでその場にいるかのような臨場感。

このThin Lizzyの『Live And Dangerous』は2003年に行われたイギリスのClassic Rock誌の歴代ライヴ・アルバム50の投票のトップを飾りました。'78年にリリースされたこのアルバムは他の作品の２倍以上の投票数を獲得し、“色あせることのないサウンド”でいつの時代でも新鮮に響く“限りなく完璧に近い珠玉の作品”と呼ばれているそうです。
ちなみにClassic Rock誌が選んだトップ10は、ほかにAC/DCの『If You Want Blood...You've Got It』、チープ・トリックの『At Budokan』、レッド・ツェッペリンの『How The West Was Won』、ザ・フーの『Live At Leeds』、UFOの『Strangers In The Night』、ローリング・ストーンズの『Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out』、KISSの『Alive!』、ラッシュの『Exit...Stage Left』、モーターヘッドの『No Sleep Til Hammersmith』という名盤揃いで、この『Live And Dangerous』がいかに素晴らしいライブ・アルバムか良く判ると思います。以上

まさしくロックライブの名盤中の名盤と思う。 日本で彼らの人気が沸騰しだしたのは、アルバム「ブラックローズ」 でゲーリームーアが３度目の加入をした頃である。但し日本では実力と比較し、人気度は今ひとつだった。私は昔からゾッコンのリジイファンで、二人のギタリストの華麗なツインリードにあこがれたものだった。確か高校と大学の頃に、2度程コンサートを見ている。一度はアルバム「チャイナタウン」でSホワイトが加入した手の頃、もう一度はJサイクス加入後の解散コンサートだった。一度目は、チャイナタウン発表後即の日本公演でかなり気合が入ったステージだったが、客の入りは日本青年館（東京）の１階部分の半分も入らないといった悲惨なものだった。二度目も確か同じホールだったが、客が溢れ出すほどの満員状態で、何で数年の違いでこんなに客の入りが違うか、びっくりしたものだった。余談はさておき、一番シンリジィが輝いていた、一番彼らラシイ頃は間違いなく本アルバムの頃と思う。楽曲の完成度、そしてBロバートソンとSゴーハムのダブルレスポールのかっこよさとハーモニー、そしてFリノットの存在感といったら、すごかった。
ブリティッシュロックを生んだイギリスで、「国民的英雄と謳いつがれた彼らのライブ」をとくと聞いてほしい。
