　『Best』というタイトルにふさわしくJimmy Cliffの代表的な曲が満載のLive Albumです。Bob Marleyと比べるとカリスマ性に欠けるためか，今ひとつ日本での評価が低い彼ですが，このLive盤にも収録されている『Many Rivers To Cross』『The Harder They Come』といった曲が，日本にレゲエという存在を知らしめた代表的な曲であることは間違いありません。この２曲を含め，このLive Albumに収録されているのは，レゲエとしてだけではなく純粋にPOP Musicとしても楽しめる曲ばかりです

　jimmy cliffの歌声や彼の書く詞が好きなのでこのCDを買ってみたが　演奏の音量に対して歓声が大き過ぎる。guitarのアーネスト・ラングリンのプレイやドラムのハイハットなども歓声によってかき消され気味。特にヘッドフォンで聴くとなんだか変な感じ。演奏や曲目など内容は文句なく良いだけに残念。
　
　ただ、＜臨場感があって良い＞という意見もあると思うので、参向程度に。

この軽やかさ、このしなやかさ。ゆったりしつつバネのあるリズム、ピンと張り詰めた声。一聴すればとぼけたポップのようで、その実込められたメッセージはハード。「奴隷や操り人形として生きるくらいなら自由な人間として墓場に眠った方がマシ」「けどあの太陽が輝く限り俺は俺の分け前は頂くさ」（Harder they come)、「本当に欲しいと思わなきゃ欲しいものは手に入らない」(You can't get if you really wamt)、「俺はもがき苦しむ男、でも時間を無駄にしてる暇はない」(Strugglin'man)・・・。
シリアスなメッセージをシリアスに歌うより、シリアスなメッセージをポップに表現する方が難しいしかっこいい。
軽やかに、しなやかに、真っ正直に。
