１９９２年の４枚組ベスト「YESYEARS」をさらに有名曲のみに絞って２枚組に縮めた廉価版。それでもファーストから「ビッグ・ジェネレイター」までの有名な組曲とシングルはほぼ網羅している。これは米盤なので日本盤とは収録曲が違っており、日本盤はディスク１の（１）（３）（７）がない代わりに最後にディスク２の（３）「危機」が入っており、ディスク２では（１）（２）の代わりにトレバー・ホーンがヴォーカル期の曲「夢の中の出来事」とトレバー・ラビンのヴォーカル曲「メイク・イット・イージー」が入っている。よって日本盤を買うことを本盤の対象のイエス初心者には勧めたい。ここら辺の選曲が違うのは両トレバー前面期がアメリカで全く受けなかったことから来ている。
「スターシップ・トルーパー」「アイヴ・シーン・グッド・ピープル」「ラウンドアバウト」「燃える朝焼け」「危機」といった有名曲を一枚のディスク１に収め、それ以降の１９８７年までの曲をディスク２に収めている。廉価版の割にはかなり誠意を感じる作りだ。

ワーナーが１９９０年代に単独で出した一枚組のベスト群とは違い、各時期の重要な組曲がほぼ網羅されているので、イエスの歴史と全体像を一番簡単に理解することができる。イエスの取っ掛かりとしてのベストとしては、本作が一番適しているのではないかと思う。現に私も初めて買ったイエスのCDがこれだった。このあと彼らの各作品を聴いて、その華麗な演奏力と曲の奥深さの世界をアルバム単位で感じる楽しみも十分残されている点で、買うほうにも売るほうにも一番利点があるベストだと思う。

しかし、本作はあの無謀な８人イエスのゴタゴタした時期に出てしまったためか、あまり普及しなかった。コンパクトかつ濃い内容の本作をもっと刷って売っておけば、後のリマスター時代にイエス初心者をもっと引き込めることができただろうに・・・。本作をベストのスタンダードとして考えないところに、イエスのマネジメント部分のまずさが見てとれるのが残念なところか。
