Released in 1976, Ringo's Rotogravure shows the former Beatle once again getting by with a little help from his friends, this time including Dr. John, Van Dyke Parks, Levon Helm, Peter Frampton, Jesse Ed Davis, Klaus Voorman, and Melissa Manchester. Unfortunately, the track listing doesn't quite measure up to the guest list. George Harrison, Paul McCartney, and John Lennon try to help their old mate by penning a song apiece, but none of their efforts are remotely memorable; ditto for "This Be Called a Song," a hand-me-down from Eric Clapton. The plodding "Dose of Rock 'N' Roll" actually made it into the U.S. top 30, which only proves that DJs and consumers alike were still willing to cut an ex-Beatle some slack in 1976. 「リンゴ」や「グッドナイトウィーン」よりいい按配に気が抜けていて、それがリンゴらしくリンゴのアルバムの中では一番好きなアルバムです（実際は移籍第一弾アルバムで特番TV番組の、プロモーションフィルムの制作等プロモーションには相当力が入っていたみたいですが）。楽曲はリンゴのアルバムでは定番になっていたオールディーズカバーの「ヘイ・ベイビー」や騒々しいイントロの「ロックは恋の特効薬」は楽しいし「ユー・ドント・ノウ・ミー・アット・オール」も良い、プレゼント曲の「これが愛ってものさ」や「ピュア・ゴールド」「アイ・スティル・ラヴ・ユー」もリンゴが歌うとぴったり、出来も中々で決して水準以下だとは思えない（リンゴが「心のラブソング」や「ディス・ソング」「オール・アワ・パスト・タイム」を歌えばそれが最高なのかなぁ）

時代がくだって新たな世代が台頭すれば、かつては栄華を誇ったスターといえども、一度は時代の潮流に呑まれてしまうのがこの世界の常。この作品は正に、その押し寄せる大波を目前にしてリリースさた。しかしながら、何となくビートルズの後光もあって中ヒットした。

プロデューサーやレーベルが変わっても、基本的には『リンゴ』『グッドナイトウィーン』を踏襲する作品という感じがするが、この２作に較べると楽曲のパンチ力が決定的に欠けている印象は拭えない。それは作家陣の本気度に問題があるような気がする。同時期、ポールはウイングスとしてヒットを連発していたのに、提供曲3は明確にその水準ではない。ジョージの7は『オールシングス マスト パス』のアウトテイク、エリック クラプトン提供の8も佳曲ではあるが『ノー リーズントゥクライ』のアウトテイクだ。早い話が、どれもこれも彼らにとっては「捨て曲」ではないか。気合の入った書き下ろしをプレゼントしてやれよ！ と、そんな気がしてこないでもない。唯一の救いなのが、その楽しい情景さえ見えてきそうなジョン提供の6ぐらいか。 １９７６年作品。

１９７６年の作品。又もやと言うべきか、リンゴのアルバムで、ジョン、ポール、ジョージが顔を揃えた。エリック・クラプトン、ピーター・フランプトンに加えてクラウス・ブアマン、ジム・ケルトナーなどいつもの顔ぶれが勢ぞろいしたアルバム。「リンゴ」から続く豪華メンバーによるリンゴのアルバムであるが、同じ試みはどうしても刺激が落ちてゆくのか、全体的に盛り上がりに欠けた作品になったと思う。しかし、こういったリンゴの仲間とわきあいあいで作るスタイルが後のオールスターバンドに繋がってゆくのだろう。リンゴのファンの方ならお薦めできる！
