5.0 out of 5 stars 力強さを感じるアルバム！, 2006/4/15
バラードを作らせたら向かうところ敵無しといった感じのあるデイヴィッド・フォスター。エアプレイは別として、本人も認めているように彼が手がけた良い楽曲と言われるものはバラードが多いのだが、このアルバムはそういった今までのイメージと評価から意図的に離れようとして製作されたもののように感じる。基本的には耳に馴染みやすいソフトなポップスという姿勢はそのままだが、例えばトラック１、２、７、１０、１１などはこれまでの彼の楽曲とはまた違うロック色の強い、力がみなぎるような魅了を感じさせてくれる。まあ、もともとプロデューサーとしてもあらゆるジャンルを器用に、最高のかたちでこなす彼なのではあるが、このアルバムではブライアン・アダムス、マイク・レノ、ブルース・ホーンズビーなど「え！？」と思わせるようなミュージシャンが数多く参加。それによって、また新しい彼の音世界が生まれた。更にダイナミック、更にスケールが広がった・・・という感じだろうか。楽曲自体のクオリティの高さも見事！

洋楽のCDで、初めて買った一枚です。聞けば聞くほど、味わい深いものを感じることができます。AORの代表作といってよりと思います。6では、ナタリーコールも歌ってます。Dフォスターのアルバムには、歌入りは少ないですし、他に提供した楽曲のベスト版等がありますが、本アルバムは彼の歌入りオリジナル。といっても、彼自身が歌っているのではなく、1〜4、8ではウォーレン・ウィービーがリードボーカル、（彼の声の伸びは素晴らしいものがあります）ブライアンアダムス、マイクレノも参加しています。今でも自分の思い出の一枚です。

このアルバムの評価は難しいですね。個人的には曲の質はかなり高いので好きなアルバムなんですが、彼がこのアルバムで志向したことがイマイチわかりません。アプローチ的には大御所のクインシー・ジョーンズを意識したことはよくわかるんですが、曲によっては彼がどこまでかかわったのか不明です。

アンディー・ヒルの2、ジョン・ファーナムの7などはアレンジはほとんど原曲のまま、5は唯一のインスト曲だが、ボーカル主体のこのアルバムに収録する必要があったのかな。次作でもほとんど同じ形で収録されているし、、。ラモント・ドジャーの3やブライアン・ウィルソンの4あたりも本人のアレンジそのままのような気がします。どこを切ってもクインシーの音がする大御所のアルバムにはそういう意味で??足元にも及んでいないような気がします。ただ本人にとっては意欲作だったように思います。最近、めっきり大物の風格で面白みに欠けるんですが、こういう野心作をまた発表してほしいものです。
