ジェネシスのベーシスト、マイク・ラザフォードの別ユニット、Mike & Mechanicsのデビューアルバム。現ジェネシスのずば抜けたポップ性はラザフォードの影響大なるものだと確信させる出来栄え。

特にボーカリストが素晴らしい。『Silent Running』→『All I Need Is A Miracle』→『Par Avion』のメドレーが秀逸。

ジェネシスでは、フィル・コリンズが目立ちすぎて他のメンバーは地味に見えてしまいがちですが、マイク・ラザフォードの才能がこんなにすごいとは思いませんでした。曲自体に派手さは無いですが、キラキラしたシンセサウンドを絶妙に効かせたアレンジはセンスよく、洗練されています。大人向きのポップなロックという感じでしょうか。

個人的なことですが、このアルバムが発売されたのは冬で、その時期によく聞いていたためか、寒い時期にあうイメージがあります。冬のドライヴには会うんじゃないでしょうか？

Taken　In　という曲が、やはり一番自分の中に残っています。
昔、FMラジオで聞いて心が締め付けられたまま、今もこれを聞くと時間が止まります。
