アルバム発表の’９０年のアメリカでは、まだＬＰ併売が多かったのだろう。
ライナーには、「A面のオーバーダブ：コーラス、シンセ、ギター・・、録音場所は云々・・」と書かれている。
本作の“Ａ面（１から５）”では、すべての“リズム隊”（Ds、B、P）が同時録音、さらに３以外ではアニタのVoも加えた４人同時録音という挑戦がなされた。
この５曲では、ライブ感覚を持ち極めて高い完成度の歌と演奏が聴ける。
Pの音像が広い４と５のノリは格別で、特に、５の後半ではお互いのインスパイアが最高潮に達し、派手なソロこそ無いもののSteely Danの「Aja」のタイトル曲を彷彿とさせる。
（最も、フィリンゲインズのPのフレージング･ヴォイシング･音色は、全曲で明らかにSteely Danしてる・・最高！）

通常の録音形態で作られた“B面”も、多彩なアレンジで飽きさせない。
冒頭の６はサビで下降音階のメロディーを使い、”抜いた”感覚を出すことで見事にダイナミズムある曲に仕上げている。
そして９、後半のPソロは絶品の一語、エンディングのそっけなさ含めてライヴ感がここでも。

曲やアレンジにR&B色が薄れ、一般的な意味でのポップさがなくなったため、
この前後のアルバムに比べてセールスでは“プラチナムに留まる”結果となった。
しかし、アニタの声質にあったユニークな楽曲がギッシリの本作は、僕にとって今でも彼女の最高傑作だ。

デビューして絶頂期に思い通りの音楽を…そんな感じがする。
前作とはかなり趣が異なり、自らの考えに沿ったものであるこ
とを想像しても、全く外れと言うことはないだろう。
本来は、若干のポップスを感じさせた方が、持ち味も膨らむと
思うのだが、妥協しなかったのか、させなかったのか、軽いジ
ャズに統一され、彼女には満足いく出来であったろう。
自分の楽曲に入り込むホップな感じを見下しているのか、もっ
と楽に進めばと心配していたが、結果は次作にて判明する。

1980年代後半の５年間を席巻したアニタ・ベイカーは，1990年に本盤を発表し，次の10年へ向けた布石を打つ。ネイザン・イーストやリッキー・ロウソンがリズム隊を固め，「モア・ザン・ユー・ノウ」ではアール・クルーが客演。バンドの強化で，事実上キーボード付帯のピアノ・トリオが伴奏する体になり，演奏の格が上がったのは確かだろう。音そのものも，過去二枚に比してジャズ色が濃いと言えるかも知れない。歌手としては勿論バンドとしても，ライブハウスの原点へ立ち返り，ステップアップを狙ったのであろう。

微妙な変化は，クレジットからも見てとれる。無名の第三者が第一著者となり，アニタとパウエルが控えに回る楽曲が増加。作品全体の彩りを豊かにした。むろん二人はなお全体を統制。これらの変化もアクセントに止まってはいる。しかし，ライブ色の強化は，演奏の統制を困難にする憂慮をはらみ，他者の楽曲は，二人の音世界を擾乱する危険とも表裏一体だった。

２年後，この僅かな亀裂は，最もフェータルな《パウエルとの決別》の形で顕在化する。「一人のアーティストとして自立したい」。独立を尊ぶアメリカで，才知ある彼女がそう思ったとしても責められない。しかしながら，続く『リズム・オブ・ラヴ』での凋落は，彼女の独立心が向こう見ずであったことを，最も哀しい形で証明してしまったのであった。
