　欧米のさまざまなジャンルの芸術に引用されることの多い『アーサー王伝説』がテーマです。メロディもコーラスもとてもきれいで、特に二曲目の“Lady　of　the　Lake”は、ハードロックのカテゴリーに入るとは思えません。この“Lady”は、アーサー王に名剣エクスカリバーを与えたお姫様でしょうか、この機会に『アーサー王物語』を読み返してみましょう。

　20年余り前に日本でも発売されたLP盤には、絵も活字も中世を思わせるような素敵な歌詞カードがついていたのですが、このCDには入っていなくて大変残念です。英文学科の学生だったころ、「Background　of　English　Literature（英文学の背景）」のレポートに引用して絶賛されました。

Rick Wakeman は伝説や古典に題材をとった作品をたくさん発表していますが、この『アーサー王と円卓の騎士たち』もその代表作のひとつです。
オーケストラとコーラスを使った叙事詩のなかで、アーサー王、王妃グィネヴィア、湖の騎士ランスロット、魔術師マーリン、騎士ガラハドの活躍を楽しめます。
難を言えば、音質が昔のままのようです。
