カナダの歌姫・セリーヌ・ディオンは、この『FALLING INTO YOU』で世界のトップ・シンガーの称号を不動のものにしました。全世界で2400万枚以上のセールスを記録したということですから、圧倒的な支持があったという証拠でしょう。

セリーヌ・ディオンは歌が上手く声量のある歌手です。冒頭の「IT’s all coming back to me now」に込められた気迫や歌唱のエネルギーが他の歌手とは全く違います。

懐かしいエリック・カルメンのヒット曲「All by myself」を上手くカバーしています。オリジナルよりもしっとりとした感じを受けますが、クライマックスへの盛り上げ方が卓越しています。このようなバラードはセリーヌ・ディオンの伸びやかな声によく合います。透明で高音の豊かな響きは他の歌手を寄せつけない貫禄すら感じました。

シュープリームスのヒット曲のカバー「River deep，mountain high」もいいですね。懐かしのモータウン・サウンドを上手く歌いこなしています。バック・バンドのサウンドも1970年当時の雰囲気がでています。

テレビドラマの「恋人よ」の主題歌として使用されたことにより多くの人に愛された「to love you more」がラストに収録されています。「何が起こっても　この愛は揺るがない」という歌詞のように強いメッセージが感じられる名曲だと言えるでしょう。

Fourteen simply beautiful songs, by a stable of composers, most of whom contributed only one track among the whole. Which suggests having been chosen from a vast collection--proof of how many wish to pair their works with the stunningly versatile voice of the French-Canadian lady.

Two of the sixteen are covers of the now classic "All By Myself" (Celine brandishing the power of her voice when called upon), and "River Deep, Mountain High" (which nearly rivals Tina Turner's version).

Also contains "Because You Loved Me", theme from "Up Close & Personal".

Be sure to listen closely and/or read the lyrics, too. Especially "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" and "Call The Man".

This US Edition is two tracks short of the UK Edition (the latter having "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman" and "Your Light" added).
