こういうBOXは言ってみれば、ボツ集なので資料的価値はあっても楽曲が素晴らしい
なんてのはあまり無いのが普通なのだが、さすが普通じゃないDylan。
素晴らしい曲が盛りだくさん（すぎ！）
いろんな人がDylanの思考がよくわからんというが全くそのとおりで、
なんでこの曲が未発表なんだよ、という曲が多く収録されています。
極めつけは最後の曲なのですが、まさか本人はこのBOXで劇的にデビューさせよう
と仕組んだんじゃないだろうな？（ほんとになに考えているかわからん人だ）
ただ、このアルバムを感動して聞くためにはオリジナルアルバム全部きちんと
聞き込まないと無理だという高いハードルが控えてますので、その点はご留意を。
（オリジナルアルバム全部聞くというのはかなりの難行苦行なのだ、これが）
しかもDylanの恐ろしいところはこれでボツが全部ではなく、この程度のBOX
ならあと５個くらいすぐできるくらいマテリアルが眠ったままというところだ。
あーほんとになに考えてんだ、この人。

ディランの30年に及ぶレコーディング・キャリアにおいて公式に発表されなかった曲は数多くある。さらには数え切れないくらいのディランのライブ・パフォーマンスのほとんどがファンの手によって録音され、非公式な市場で流通している。このアルバムは、これまでブートレッグでしか聴くことの出来なかった曲や、ブートレッグの世界にも登場したことのないスタジオ録音のアウト・テイクだけを集めたものだ。はじめてこのアルバムを洋楽レコードの専門店で見かけたときは、新しいブートレッグが出回ったのかと思ったが、レーベルをよく見たらコロンビア・レコードのものだった。ファンにとっては待望のアルバムだが、はたして問題はこれが本当にシリーズ化されるかどうかだ。

このアルバムの構成は1961年から198!9年までの間に録音された貴重な音源をほぼ録音日順に並べたもので、公式に発表されたテイクとの比較を通してディランの曲の生成過程を知ることが出来る。
