5.0 out of 5 stars ジャケット、内容共にGoodなCryOfLoveのデヴューアルバム！, 2006/2/19
'92年11月にマッスルショールズサウンドスタジオで録音されたCryOfLoveのデヴューアルバム。私がこのCryOfLoveを初めて知ったのは、ウォーレンヘインズが南部のミュージシャンを集めて毎年のように主催するというベネフィットコンサートの模様を収めたライブ盤の中でのことでした。本作でのヴォーカルKellyHollandは、この一作で残念ながら脱退してしまっていますが、リードギターのAudleyFreedとの合作による作品はどれも粒揃いで、どことなくポールロジャースを思い出す哀愁を帯びたソウルフルなヴォーカルは耳に心地よく、こういった質の高いヴォーカリストがなんと多いことかと感心させられます。また、これはアンディーフレーザー？というようなベースラインなどフリーを愛するバンドだということが感じられるアルバムでもあります。
しかし、だからといってギターのオードリーは特にポールコゾフ風というわけでもなく、サザンロックの王道を行くような豪快でツボを得たギターを気持ちよく鳴らしており、のちにブラッククロウズに参加する事になるわけですが、やはり本作でのオードリーが一番オードリーらしい。ブラッククロウズやストーリィヴィルもそうだけど、南部のバンドのアルバムはどれも聴くたびに良さの増すものが多く、本作のこのサウンドもはまったら当分抜けられそうにありません。とにかく、ヴォーカルのケリーとギターのオードリーのカッコ良さに大満足の一枚です。

このバンド、ほとんど知られていないと思います。しかし、1曲目からぶっ飛ぶカッコ良さです。ジミヘンとフリーに影響を受けているようです。アンプ直結のギターの音が気持ちいいですね。是非聴いてみて下さい。
