1968年5月9,10日　ニューヨーク、コロムビア30番街スタジオで録音。グールド78枚目のアルバム。

これが珍しいうえに素晴らしいのだ。どちらも素晴らしいのだが・・・・やはりグールドがより素晴らしい。弦を担当しているジュリアードSQも溌剌としているのだが、グールドのピアノがキラリキラリと光る。実に爽快だ。曲は1842年の所謂『室内楽の年』と言えそうなシューマンの絶頂期の作品で僕の知る限りこの曲の決定盤がこのアルバムだと思う。これも隠れた名盤ということになりそうだ。
