このアルバムは、グロリア・エステファン＆マイアミ・サウンドマシーン
というクレジットになっている。

だからＣＤ付属のスリーブを開けると、最初のページに、
メンバー全員とトランプゲームに興じる彼女の姿がある。

内容は、抜群です。

最高のアップテンポの曲が並び、そのあとに、ぐっとくるバラード曲。

泣かせるのは、2大名曲「OYE MI CANTO」「Don't wanna lose you (SI VOY A PERDERTE)」の
スパニッシュ・ヴァージョンが入っていて、それでアルバムがしめくくられること。

ラテンポップの熱さやリズムの魅力が存分に味わえる「OYE MI CANTO」が終わった後、
彼女がつぶやくようなスペイン語で、♪Por ultima vez♪と歌いだす瞬間は、
ため息が出るほど、美しく、優しく、すばらしいです。

このアルバムを知ったのは小学校高学年か中学生の頃。大好きな井上昌己嬢の著書に、「影響を受けたアルバムだ」と書かれていたのがきっかけで聴いてみた。
それまでラテンというジャンルにほとんど興味がなかった私だったが、本作を聴くうち、ここまでラテンというのはカッコいいのかと感じさせられていったものだった。アルバム全体がラテン一色というわけでは決してないが、グロリアが歌うとやっぱりラテンの匂いが漂う。
何より新鮮だったのはグロリアのボーカルだ。声量があるほうではないが、ポップな曲を歌うことによってそれをカバーしている。「OYE MI CANTO」のほとばしるような熱さはスペインの血を感じずにはいられない。端正というよりは訛りのある英語の発音もクセになる。
大衆向けの作品ではないと思うが、これが発売された当時にしては新しさを感じさせる作品だと思う。
