良い曲を、良いヴォーカルが歌うと、ここまで素晴らしいのかと、初めて5を耳にしたとき、馬鹿みたいに感動した。全米No1、ダイアン・ウォレンの筆によるこの名曲は、もう数百回も繰り返し繰り返し聴いた今でも、ほろりとさせられることがある。なんといっても、ジョン・ウェイトのヴォーカルの味わいの深さ。日本においてはこのバンド、元ジャーニー組、特にニールに焦点が行きがちだけど、やはり主役はジョンの歌。この名曲5を始め、38（全米５位）1113と、バラード調の曲は、正にジョンの一人舞台。思わず聞き惚れる歌声です。せいぜい５分の時間の間にどれだけの感動が詰まっていることか…。とにかく必聴。
他の曲も捨て曲は無しで、6におけるラストコーラスでの転調の妙や、7の張り詰めたテンション、王道ロックの12などなど、もりだくさん。ジャーニー的な所は確かにあるだろうが、それよりももっと、大人っぽい感じでしょうか。メロディ派とか、ハードポップ派とか、そんな枠を超えて、万人に聴いてもらいたいアルバム。同時に、歴史の片隅に埋もれさせてはならない、大傑作!

最近こういう音だせるバンドってあまりいないような気がする。ため息が出るような傑作の一枚。メロディラインの良さがとてつもなく秀でていて、あっと言う間にラストまで聞き入ってしまう。バラードも5曲はいっているが、どれもこれも良い。有名な「When I ~」と「Price of love」はもちろん、個人的なお気に入りは「The restless ones」。たった二作での解散は本当に残念。ロックファン全員必聴！！

私は古めの洋楽ロックが好きな17歳なんですが
一番今洋楽ロックバンドの中でBad Englishが好きです・・・！
声がいいし。
