   ミシェル・カミロはドミニカ共和国サントドミンゴ出身のピアニスト。にぎやかな演奏とラテンの血筋からして、さぞ脳天気な男だろうと思ったら、いざ話してみると繊細な真面目人間だったので驚いた。話しぶりは理路整然としていて、なかなかのインテリという印象をもった。9歳で国立音楽院に入学。16歳の時に入団したナショナル・シンフォニー・オーケストラでは最年少だった。そのまま進めば世界的なクラシック・ピアニストになっていたはずだが、ラジオでアート・テイタムを聴いてショックを受け、それを機会にジャズを聴くようになったという。アート・テイタム、オスカー・ピーターソン、マッコイ・タイナー、バド・パウエル、ビル・エヴァンスの5人を集中的に聴いたとも言っていた。これは88年に録音した初期の代表作。原盤はポートレイト。強力なタッチでぐいぐいとたたみかけるダイナミックな演奏が爽快このうえない。そして圧倒的なスピード感と抜群のテクニックに圧倒されること必至。代表曲<9>に聴かれる哀愁もこれまたカミロの魅力だ。（市川正二）

このCDを聴いて心からそう思いました。昨年日本にきていたとは・・・！
疾走する滑らかでアグレッシブな指使い。初めて聴く人でも必ず心を揺さぶられるはず！
特にM-1 Suite Sandrine Part 1からいきなりのこれでもかこれでもかの熱いプレイ！ラテンの血が騒ぎます。（日本人ですが・・・）
M-9 Caribeはかすかな哀愁をおびた熱いカリビアンです。さあ、みんなで一緒に何もかも忘れて踊りましょう！

４年前、Oz Meet Jazzで流れたSuite Sandrine Part1を聞いて
からの大フアン。
小曽根さんをして、
「あんなふうに弾けたら」
といわしめた超絶技巧。
ついこの前（2002/10/1）もBlue Noteにライブを聞きにいった。
なにしろ佳境に入るとひじから先が見えなくなるくらいの早弾きに、
前の列にいた女の子は目を真ん丸くして聞きいっていた。
場内、熱狂の１時間半。

外の台風よりもこっちの台風の方が凄かった。
農耕民族の私も、この人の曲を聴くとラテンの血が騒ぐ。

まさしく、
バド・パウエル＋ラテン＝ミシェル・カミロ

この人と同じ時代に生まれたことを一人のJazzフアンとして
幸せに思います。

ラスト2曲が最高です。テクニカルなんですけど、疾走していて、それが心地良い。
勝手に体が動いてしまう心地よさです。
これは買いです。後悔しません。
CD1500枚以上持ってますけど、これが一番の愛聴盤です。絶対のオススメ
